    ****UPDATE, UPDATE, UPDATE******

I MUST BE STUPID OR NOT DOING SOMETHING RIGHT! I guess I'm nit understanding the machanics of Bodybuilding. I workout hard and try to eat right....and nothing. HELP!!

Has it really been since November that I last updated?!?
Anywho, workouts are coming along fact I have made some personal gains in the gym.....
Like for instance, my squats are up to 310 pounds....I actually have a booty now....I KNOW!
Starting this week, I begin a 6 week lean down to show off the gains that I have made.
Let's see how that turns out!
Until next time.......(maybe I'll have some new pictures posted)

WOW, here we are....the middle of November.....the holidays are upon us.
I've been working with my new trainer (Trainer Hank) for the past 6 weeks, and I have to say....he is kicking my ass...but in a good way. I feel like I have been making progress....slowly, but that's ok. I want to make the right kind of progress. I'm still on track for my goal...10 pounds of lean muscle while dropping bodyfat in 10 months. Though my Denver trip has been moved up to April, I am still pushing toward that goal. Thank you all for the comments and emails reguarding my progress....what a great motivation you all are. I will be posting a new progress photo at the end of December.....not quite ready for that "shirtless" photo....but I promise I will post one when I reach my goal. Until next time my friends!

Good morning all....well just 11 more days until Autumn. And with the changing season, comes a change in me. I'm meeting up with a new trainer (I changed gyms last month) and I have a 10 month plan. In the next 10 months I WILL be adding at least 10 pounds of lean muscle and dropping body fat (I guess I need to find out what that is first). I will be traveling to Denver next July (10 months away), so I am making some changes and gearing up for that trip.
I will be keeping you all posted on my progress as well as my first meeting with "Hank" the trainer.

WOW, half way through August already....sorry for the delay in the update.
Well, since you last heard from me, a very nice RJ member sent me an email and offed up some nutrition advise. He sent me a breakdown for a day of muscle building food, and had some very nice things to say. That has to be one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me.
It's been a month since starting on his "diet" plan and I have to say "I LIKE IT" I am starting to notice little changes. Also since you last heard from me I have changed gyms and Workout Routines.
I joind the "Y" which is 3 blocks from my office and about 60% gay.....The staff is very friendly and to me customer service is EVERYTHING. The last gym I was at (for over 2 years) if you weren't paying the extra money for a trainer (which was also the owners), you were pretty much never spoken to.....I don't know how I lasted 2 years there.
so now I am pushing forward and moving on.....I am starting to see some changes in my body and can't wait for the next 6 months to see what else I can do.
Any of you RJ members who are on Facebook....please look me up....Jerry Beasly
Have a wonderful, until next time.

Hard to believe that the year is already half over. My goal for the next 6 months is to take this average body of mine to the NEXT LEVEL! Everyone stay tuned and see what happens.

Wow, this month just got away from me. And I totally forgot to update. Well I cometed the RJ 12 Week Muscle Building Workout. It was really intense... And I lost 8 took me a little whe to adjust my calorie intake to the workout I was that straightened out about half way through. I did not achieve the results that I had expected....but think that that was partially my fault...due to the low calorie intake.
I am now back on my regular workout....which is actually very effective. I even had a fell RJ'er email me his Muscle Building food's pretty simple and inexpensive....we are gonna give that a whirl and see what happens. So until next time.........

Ok guys....I'm half way through week 11 of the RJ 12 week Muscle Building Workout....and it's pretty intense. At the end of Week 12 I will post a before and after pick.
Not sure if there is a lot of difference...but I'll let you all be the judge.
Think after the 12 weeks I will give myself 2 weeks of light workouts before starting again.

Just a real quick update....start week 8 of the RJ 12 Week Muscl Building Workout.
It's the same workout as week 7, but I've looked ahead to week 9 and it changes again....looks like it's going to be a little more intense. I think when I do this workout again I will add the RJ Muscle Building Meal Plan to go alone with it. I can use all the help I can get. Not sure if I'll be up for the shirtless pic just yet....maybe when I complete the workout the 2nd time around.

I am officially half way through the Real Jock 12 Week Muscle Building Workout.
I'm not sure if I've gained any muscle yet...I have had a few people tell me that my arms are looking bigger....but personally.....I don't see it. Even though while looking at the pictures here on Real Jock I totally feel out of my league...I'm going to push forward and up the intensity of my workout and see what I can accomplish. Be good everyone....stay strong and be positive!

Ok, I'm on the last week of the first half of the Real Jock 12 Week Muscle Building Workout....and I have to's getting pretty intense, but in a good way. I don't think I will be where I would like to be at the end of the 12 weeks....sometimes I feel out of my leage here...but I will push on.
I will keep you all posted....and still maybe post that Shirtless Pic when I'm done with the program....we'll see. :-)

Just a quick update....just completed the first month of the Real Jock 12 Muscle Building Workout. Looking's gonna be intense!
I did want to take a moment and say thanks to all the kind words....I know I'm not the hottest guy, or the guy with the best body...but the comments really mean a lot! :-)

Ok, Ok....I's been 4 months since my last update.
The Holidays are all over....and I can report that not too much damage occured.
I've switched up my workouts quite a bit.....from December to February I was on a 3 days on, 1 day off rotation. It worked really in March...I happened upon the 12 week Muscle Building Workout here on Real Jock. I just started week 4 today (3-28-11). I don't think I've every done as many or as many different kinds of pushups in my life. I'm usually the last person to ever see any difference in after the 12 weeks I will post a new picture....I may even be ready for a shirtless one.....not promising anything. :-)
    Well fellas.....keep it sexy!

WOW, is it November already....I totally skipped over the October update....sorry fellas.
October workouts were good...cut calories because i was going on vacation the 3rd week of the month (did the Disney World Family thing....had a good time, but now back to reality.
Hitting the weigts hard....SUPERSETS all month.but a little different. 3 days inbetween the upperbody supersets and 6 days inbetween the lowerbody superset. Trainer Steve wants to see how the muscles react to more rest days between workouts. Bike riding season is over :-( so doing cardio on Tuesdays and Thursdays.....20 minute sessions of high and low intensity.
On Saturday doing the Beasley Boxing Bootcamp....something I made up....hitting the heavy bag, speed bag and such....along with very light weight circut type workout.
We the holidays are quickly approching....hope everyone has a great and joyous holiday season.....and try not to eat toooo much. Until next time.

Just wanted to give you a quick update. First of all....where in the heck did summer go?!?
Just 17 days until I head down to Orlando for a week....i know it's not the beach, but spending some quality time with my family at Disney World.
This week has beena NON-WEIGHT workout week....kind of gives the body a shock. Of course Trainer Steve is still killing me with the Wednesday AB only workout....2 sessions.
Starting Monday the 4th will be back on the Push, Pull, Leg workout until Vacation.
Then.....who knows. You may have noticed from my new profile picture that I've taking up boxing....well, sort of. A boxing workout at least....I do spar in the ring with my brother....but he beats the crap out of me. So, until next time.....or I'm out of my boxing induced coma.

Ok's September! Where the heck did the summer go?
Things are changing for me.....I've been doing a couple weeks of Supersets.....and I'm actually having people in the gym stop me and say how good I'm looking....It's hard for me to take compliments like that....but I'm adjusting. Added a grueling AB workout on Wednesdays and a Cardio session on Saturdays....but not just any cardio. I either do a Boxing/Bootcamp workout....or run the stadium stairs at the local university. Which ever one I do.....they kick my butt.....and make me feel great. I've been doing yoga a couple times a week in the evenings just to help with my flexibility (it's not that great). But still hitting the gym at 5am Monday - Friday.
Heading to Orlando mid have some work to do still.
    Until next time......

Wow, it August already....continuing with the interval training this month, with a few changes.
On Wednesdays....will be doing an Ab workout and some kick-ass cardio on Saturdays.
For example....this past Saturday ran stairs (69 steps, 16 times = 2208 steps) and in between each up and down did a Bootcamp style exercise (push up, squats, etc.). I may incorporate a boxing workout on a couple Saturdays, just to mix it up a bit. Just 2 1/2 months until my Florida vacation, so.....need to take this thing to a whole other level

Here we are, the last week of July.....It's hard to believe that the year is half over.
Still working on the Interval Training.....but shaking up the nutrition a little bit.
Usually I would eat my pre-workout meal when I wake up at 3:30, then ride my bike to my office and walk to the gym which puts me there at 5am. By the time I start my workout, an hour and a half has passed since I consumed my pre-workout meal. So, starting this week....I still get up at 3:30, but I'm not consuming my pre-workout meal until I get to my office which is at 4:30, so by the time I start my workout at 5am only 30 minutes have passes. We'll see how that goes.
I'll let you know in 2 weeks.

Well we are half way thru July (almost)......working really hard, I have just one more week of the Push, Pull, Legs workout....then it's time for a few weeks of interval Training.
I feel like I'm reaching my goals, but it's slow coming. I know I can't expect results overnight...and I'm the last person who is going to notice it. I actually did do something that I've never done before. I Rode my bike home was 95 degress and sunny......but I stepped out of my shy shell and tried something different. And no-one laughed or pointed. Hmmmmm, maybe this is working.
Stay positive everyone and I will update again at the end of the month.

Well here we are.....July 1st.....Did June even happen?
quite a few things happened in June.... I turned 45.....and I'm in better shape today than I was when I was that makes me feel great. The other thing is that in the last month of workouts I have increased the weight I've been lifting quite a bit. I'm quite proud of that.....Lets me know that I'm making progress.
Trainer Steve has me doing the same Push, Pull, Leg workout for a couple more weeks...then switching to an Interval training for a couple of weeks. I've got 3 months til I'll heading to we should be starting to lean down here shortly.
    So, Until next time........

Happy June Everyone.....Well I started my new workout today. it's going to be a heavy lifting month...and I'm going to push myself to reach new heights! This month is a Push, Pull and Leg workout....Push one day, Pull one day then legs......and start over. I've done this workout several months ago....and it was very effective! So as the month progress...I'll keep you all of these days I'm going to get to change that status from Average to Defined!
    What do you all think?

Okay peoples.....I have completed my 2 week of the "300" style was pretty tuff, and i must say for a workout that only last maybe 35 minutes....I was pretty drenched from head to toe.
I'm awaiting my new workouts from Trainer Steve.....and looking forward to changing my Status from "Average" to " Defined"
I do have to tell you, that I am starting to believe those things that everyone has been saying.
just the other day.....I had a member at my gym as me....yes ME for advise and then I had 2 different members, at 2 different times tell me how good I was looking. At first I thouht this may be a plot from Trainer Steve to get me to think more positive about
So now.....I am starting to believe what I see in the mirror. Oh, and on 2 seperate occations, I had a guy come into my work and give me their phone numbers. Hmmm,
Keep up the good work fellas, and thank you for reading my ramblings. would love to hear from all of you....well those who actually have read this far and have gotton to this part of the "blog"
    Until next time

Well here we are....the last week of May! I've been hitting it really hard for the month. This past week was a workout based on the movie "300", the workout the actors did to prepare for their roles. It was really cardio based....meaning....pull ups, push ups, clean and jerks....those sort of things. And let me tell the time I was finished with the third set of the cycle....I was drenched from head to toe with sweat! I'm not quite ready to change my "Build" from Average to Defined yet....since I've been hitting the weights really hard....Trainer Steve has me consuming 4000 Calories per, I am kind of feeling like a bloated pig!.. But I'm sure once we get to the lean down time.....then maybe I'll be able to change that status. I have one more week of the "300" workout, then who know's what Trainer Steve will have in store for me. Keep watching for more updates in what I am calling "Jerry's Incredible Journey" Unitl next time!

I can't believe it's may already......We for the fisrt two weeks of May, I am continuing with the Upper and Lower Body Supersets, and the Tibata workouts in between. Then for the last two weeks of the month, I will be doing the 300 workout....GO SPARTA!
Then in June.....June 3rd to be exact....I'll be turning 45....and I have never felt better in my life.
I may not be where I wanted to be physique wise....but, I will get can count on that!

This is just a quick mini update. Trainer Steve's workout for the month is a Upper Body and Lower Body Mass Building Superset Workout. So Monday and Thursday is Upper, Tuesday and Friday is Lower then on Wednesday and Saturday I do a Tabata workout. Now, not knowing what "Tabata" means, I had to look it up. Technically it is a Cardio based workout. As many reps as you can do (using proper form) in 20 seconds, rest for 10 seconds then do your next set. You do this 5 times per excerise. I have 4 different Tabata's (Chest, Legs, Sholders & Back)
I will keep you updated on the way the month is turning out. I'm predicting some good gains this month.
    Be well all!

    Happy Spring Everyone......
Well it's getting close to enjoy some outdoor activites
for the next two weeks, Trainer Steve has me on a sort of Circut workout. Just a few sets of everything....but let me tel's pretty darn effective. Now in April, the second week that is. I will be changing workouts again....I'm told this one will be for mass building and definition. Can't wait to see how that goes. I've really noticed a change in myself over the past few weeks, well since February. Really excited about my workouts now....can't hardly wait for more changes.
    Until next time fellows.........

Ok everyone, it's March 1st....Spring is only 20 days away, let's hope it doesn't dissapoint us and stay away longer.
Trainer Steve kept me on the "Push", "Pull" and "Lower Body" workout for the next 3 weeks. My body is actually responding very well with this workout. In the last week, I have lifted and pushed more weight then I ever have been able to. I even had 3 different people, at 3 different times tell me that they are noticing some real changes in my appearence, body wise. 1 person even used the word "Buff" Beleive me when I say that "Buff" and "Jerry" have never been used is the same sentence before.....unless it was "Jerry, could you please buff the hardwood floors"
We'll see what this month is going to bring me workout wise....the last week of the month we are going to change the workout, just to give the body a bit of a shock. I'll let you know how that goes....when it gets here

It's February....and I know we are all getting a little spring fever...I know it's still early, but we can feel it's just around the corner.
Starting a new workout routein for this month. Trainer Steve has me doing a "Push", "Pull" and "Lower Body" workout. (3 different routeins). I'm really upping my weight this month, trying to push myself even harder. Trainer Steve and I have been working together now for one year. I'm posting a "Before" picture and a "Week 52" picture. I'm really not happy with the results that I have, or have not gained in the we are going to really start hitting it hard. Would love to hear some feedback from all of you. Until next update...........

Happy New Year everyone! Trainer Steve has me on two workouts this month. One being a basic Barbell routein, and the other is a circut workout based on the workout the actors did to get ready for the movie "300" I've been taken off cardio for a while. Need to add some size, then start cutting down for spring. I have a friend who is a trainer and he did my bodyfat for me two different ways. The first was the traditional calibrators (sp), which I came in at around 13 % and the second way was with a hand held devise that measures the bodyfat electronically (he says it measures a little on the high side) and it came out at 16%. My friend then reconfigured my protein and carb intake based on my lean body mass......It was very helpful. We'll see where I'm at at bodyfat wise at the end of February.

Well this month is quickly coming to a close. I am happy to report that with all the holiday hoopla, I kept my workouts and eating in check. Looks like I will be finishing out the month at a solid 170 pounds. I have tweeked my daily food intake a bit, so we'll see how that works out. I haven't received my workouts for January from Trainer Steve yet......not sure what he has planned for me next month. I'm sure of one thing.....he will be pushing me even harder with the new year.

ok's December and Trainer Steve has another workout for me. Lets just say it's pretty intense. It's been two days and I can barely move my arms (I hope that's a good sign and not that I'm having a stroke). Keeping the calories at 3000 per day (I think this is the best number for me right now). I finally get to incorporate cardio into my workouts.....I had to put the bike up for the season (that was a very sad day). I finished November at 170 pounds....I want to try to gain at least 4 more pounds (good pounds) by the end of the month. Until next time......keep up the great work fellas.

To start off November's workouts, Trainer Steve has upped my calories to 3000 per day. As for the workouts themselves.....I thought "Ab-tober Fest" It was a cake walk compared to what Trainer Steve has me doing this month. I'm still riding my bike to the gym and work and of course back home....but that will be over in the next week or so.....It's a little chilly at 4am in the morning.
It will be a sad day when I have to put my bike up for the season. I'm working on getting some new pictures taken, so I will keep you all posted and up to date of my progress.

Well, October is pretty much over. Trainer Steve's "Ab-tober Fest" was a killer. I told you I wasn't lying. Finished the month strong, and I am down to 166 Pounds, But still retaining the muscletone that I gained during the bulking period. I'm not where i want to be........yet, but Steve promises me we will get there. Not sure what kind of torture Steve has planned for me in November, but we'll see.

Hey everyone.....another quick update. Toady I started another routien. Trainer Steve so fondly calles it "Ab-tober Fest" And he ain't lying.
I'll update more during this painful month.

Just a quicky update.....just finished week 3 of the 2nd month of Project Lean Down. In the bulking stage I reached 180 pounds, and as of Friday have leaned down to 168 pounds. I've got 2 more weeks of this month. So I will post another update in the next 2 weeks.

8/31/09 we are at the end of another month. August was my first month of Lean Down and Cutting Phase. It went really well....I've settled in at 174 Pounds, Trainer Steve took me off cardio for the month (except on weekends), because I was dropping weight too fast.
September starts month 2 of Lean Down and Cutting. Keeping the calories at 2500 per day with the addition of cardio during the week. The toughest part for me will be NO WORKOUT on Wednesday....this is a day of rest and recovery. I'll most likely use the time I would have worked out and spend some time in the hot tub and sauna.

Well, here we are at the end of my mass building workout. I have been consuming 4000 per day for the past 3 weeks, and starting Monday I will be entering the lean down and cutting stage. I will be dropping the cal. down to 3500 for 2 weeks then 2500 for 2 weeks.
I ended this cycle at 180 pounds....that is 30 pounds more then when I started in February.
Lots of thanks to Trainer Steve and all his help...and here's to the next phase of my workout.

Ok, Trainer Steve just told me today, that for the next 3 weeks (last of the mass building, before lean down) he wants to bump me back up to 4900 calories per day.....

Wow, hard to believe that July is just a few days away. Well, I'm up a few more pounds and Trainer Steve told me today, one more month of Mass Building. We will start the Lean Down and Cutting Stage in August.....Uuuggghhhh, one more month of 4000 calorie days.

Just a quick update today. As of this morning I'm up 3 more pounds Trainer Steve deceided to do another month of mass building, so I'm not really sure when the lean down and cutting phase will begin. So until the next update....I promise it won't be 2 months this time.....!

I'm up to 170 pounds as of this morning. feeling a little bloaty (is that a word). My trainer assures me that is normal. One more month of building, then it's lean down and cutting phase.
I guess I'll have to post some new pictures after that.
Well, I thought it was time to finally update.
I had finally reached a waist size of 30", which I thought was great. But being 6ft tall and only weighing 150 pounds just wasn't cutting it. SO, I found a trainer (more about him later), and now he has me eating 4000 cal. per day, (actually he wants me to eat 4800 + cal. per day, but I haven't quite got there yet). Being a fat kid growing up, it's tuff to put on weight without thinking that I'm going to be fat again. But my trainer "Steve", is working with me to add muscle weight (which when bulking up there is some fat that goes along with it), then when I reach my new weight (which will most likely be around 185 pounds) Steve will work with me to lean down to expose the newly built muscle. I have the utmost confidence in Steve, and absolutely love the workouts he has me doing.....I never get bored.
So, please stay tuned, and let's see what happens.

I am just your average guy next door type. I tend to be everybodies best friend. I believe that everyone should be treated the same. No one is better than anyone else. And if you think you are, you don't deserve to call me a friend.

I am a former "FATTY" - but with lots of hard work and determination I have dropped 65 pounds and 8" off of my waist. Being on this sight really gives me the motivation I need to keep striving for bigger things.

If you would like to talk, that would be great. Just send an e-mail or IM if I am online.
