    I've lost around 60 lbs. over the last year. Been trying to get back into shape - I'm currently training for a half-marathon (my 1st). I've been taking a Yoga for Runners class once a week and it's been great - really cut down on injuries and I'm generally feeling more flexible and my recovery time is quicker after long runs.

    My "weight" training consists mainly of pullups and pushups with some elastic band work thrown in - mainly upper body stuff.

    I'm not really what I would consider a "jock" - I'm just an average guy who likes to get sweaty and tired a few times a week.

    Update: On Nov. 6, 2010 I completed my 1st half marathon! It was 26 degrees when we started and I didn't feel my feet for about 2 miles, but I had a blast. I'm looking forward to pushing my training to the next level. I've committed myself to running the Minneapolis marathon next June.

    Update: On June 5, 2011 I completed my 1st marathon. My time was lousy...I was nauseated from the start and my left leg kept cramping. But I did complete it under my own power. The race was in Minneapolis - gorgeous city! I think we crossed the Mississippi 4 times. There was one KILLER hill - it was hard just to walk up it. But the lilacs and honeysuckle were in bloom...and the number of beefy guys running along with the other scenery made it well worth the trip. I don't know if I'll be doing another full marathon soon...I think the half is more my distance.

    Update: December 16, 2012 I will be participating in the 2014 Gay Games! I'm running the 5K, 10K, and Half Marathons. Wish me luck, boys!

    Update: January 26, 2013: Just completed a night time trail half marathon (2nd year in a row). At least the course was solid (frozen) this year. Last year it was huge sucking pits of mud with a thin crust of ice on top. My time sucked, but I had fun. And that's what running is about for me - I enjoy it, and every race I complete puts me so far ahead of most people in this country in terms of exercise.

    I'm running the half marathon in the 2014 Gay Games. Anyone else going to be there?

    Update: Aug. 18, 2014: Ran the half marathon at the Gay Games last weekend. I cut 2 minutes off my best time. I'm still not fast, but at least I'm out there running. I was a little disappointed in the turnout. Not many people at all for the half + full marathons. It was fun, though.
