An SF native, raised in the pacific-northwest, educated back east, now live in an 1885 building a mile from where I was born. Pic on right (--> this way -->) is the view, day or night, fog or clear, from this SF hill as seen on The CastroCam
Back in career #2, I'm a state licensed general contractor, my only project is maintaining/restoring my building/home. Most of my free time goes towards being Exec Director of USNA Out
, the LGBT Alumni group of the US Naval Academy. Since our beginnings in 2003, we focused on acceptance
; them accepting us, and us as individuals accepting ourselves. Very visible and positive role models can change minds and lives. We still have a long way to go.
Career #3 is filmmaking. I was the Director of OUT of ANNAPOLIS
, a documentary film project by the members of USNA Out. It played in the LGBT film festival circuit, including a full house at Frameline34
here in San Francisco, plus NY, LA, Philly, DC. Austin and more. We're still completing the "study" part of our project, so if you know any gay or lesbian alumni who attended USNA, if they are not aware of this project, please have them get in touch with me.
If you are in SF on a Saturday Morning, you can find me at SF FrontRunners
. Be at Stow Lake in GG park 9 AM. I love SF, but like to escape in January-February, traveling on a super tight budget. I'm also a Navy Lightweight Crew
groupie. Travel Wish list if I can get a travel buddy(ies): Delhi, Berlin.
I'm one of the very lucky who was given some good genes from my parents, including CCR5-D32
genotype DD. I'm still absorbing what that means, and how I can use what I was given to benefit others. Thank you both Mom & Dad for giving me life, twice.
ABOUT MY WORKOUTS
I've always been fit by lifestyle, rowed 150 lb. crew in college, I'll take stairs over an elevator, I have always chosen to live where I can bike to work, pool and the gym where I erg and do core strengthening.
I trashed my L5/S1 disk by lifting more and more often than the load my spine was designed to carry, and flying over the trunk of a car doing an illegal U-turn landing on my back in the middle of an intersection didn't help. I wasn't the indestructible crew guy that we all thought we were. I've compensated by mostly giving up my car, biking with panniers to Costco, Trader Joes or Wholefoods.
If you are visiting San Francisco, I love to show off my city by bike, I've got a loaner for you and will happily take you on the bike tour of the western side of the city.
WHERE I'VE BEEN
Way too much about me, eh?
