I'm pretty much your laid-back, not-so-average guy next door. I love to keep active both outdoors and in. I watch sports, play them occasionally (be careful, I'm competetive), and play way too many video games. I play the guitar fair to middle'n and would love to play the piano better than I do already.

I love to travel and have had the privlege to do it fairly often, but haven't been anywhere in way too long of a time. I lived in rural Kenya (seriously rural, no electricity or running water) for 5 months and learned more there about life than anywhere else. Try to think about not seeing a mirror for 5 months and you'll start to understand what i'm talking about. I love to travel to those places that are completely off the map.

I definitely consider my best attribute my intelligence and my pure, unabated desire to learn new things. I graduated from UW Madison in 2008 and went into the pharma R&D industry, but after doing that for a little more than a year found that I'm way more passionate about academic research than pharmaceuticals. So I just left the midwest in July of 2009 for the first time since I was 7 years old and moved to Baltimore and got my dream job at Johns Hopkins. I feel ridiculously blessed cause I wake up every morning with a true passion for the things I will do in that day.
