Are you a chronic loud snorer who tosses and turns all night? Do you wonder why you’ve got no libido after all that nocturnal honking?
A small study suggests that snoring and erectile dysfunction are related.
Men with sleep apnea start and stop breathing numerous times throughout the night. Loud snoring is a tell-tale sign of the condition.
That nocturnal oxygen depravation can muck up the snorer’s cardiovascular function, raising the odds of high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke, and lowering the odds of erection, according to the authors of the new study, led by Dr. John P. Mulhall of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York, and published in the journal Urology.
In the study, 24 of 30 men with sleep apnea also experienced erectile dysfunction while only 4 of 20 men without sleep apnea experienced erectile dysfunction, according to Reuters Health.
