The National Gay Basketball Association plan a 16-team tournament in Salt Lake City this fall, according to the Associated Press.
With over 100 members of Team Salt Lake competing at the Gay Games VII, it's an ideal opportunity to dispel some myths about Utah, Doug Fadel, co-chairman of Team Salt Lake, told the AP.
"People were really surprised there was such a big team from Salt Lake City," he told the AP.
"If we can have a positive experience and get people excited about basketball, that's the key," participants Mark Chambers told the AP.
Formed nearly three years ago, the NGBA organizes six tournaments annually.
