A story posted today on the Advocate.com today reports that the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington became the first-ever gay group to perform at a major professional sporting event in the country. The gay men's chorus sang the national anthem at Tuesday night's game at RFK stadium when the Washington Nationals took on the Florida Marlins. The Nationals lost 2-4.
The Advocate reports that the Chorus received a standing ovation. Of course, this could have been influenced by the fact that TeamDC's Night Out at the Nationals II was there, cheering on the Gay Men's Chorus. The first Night Out at the Nationals in 2005 drew over 1,100 LGBT people.
