I recently started a new business and hired a website developer in chicago to design and host my site. They have done no SEO work and would like $1,000.00 to install meta tags.

The webiste is up and running but I have not received any orders in 6 weeks. The site looks great but no one can find it!

I have paid them 90 percent of the money for the project and now they have put it on the back shelf. I have no source code and no sales.

What can i do? And what is a fair price to pay to get my site noticed?

SEO is expensive because it is very time consuming. Your developer may not know how to correctly Optimize your site for Search Engines; it is more than just meta tags. From experience and having conversations with some site developers, most do not know how to make a site visible (outside of putting in thousands of virtually useless mega tags).

If you want someone to so SEO, find someone that solely specializes in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) or hire someone JUST to do the SEO for your site and nothing else.

what is your website's URL? If you load your site in a browser window and hit (control + U [option + U for macs]) and you can view your page's source code.
