Severe Allergy Eyes

One night, my eyes were so itchy, I started rubbing them. They got inflamed (which they do frequently when I rub them) so I used a prescription eye drop for allergy eyes.

The next morning, I woke up and both my eyes were flaming red. Went to Urgent Care and was given an antibiotic drop. Not a super strong one. But it seemed to work for the 5 days I had to use it. But my eyes got worse again.

Went back to different Urgent Care and he gave me a stronger eye ointment with a mild steroid in it. Seemed to work and my eyes seemed to have gotten better. Stopped the treatment, they got worse again.

Finally went to a highly recommended and reputable opthamologist. He said I have severe allergy eyes. Gave me a prescription for some allergy drops.

It's now days 5 on them and nothing is better. Actually, they seemed to have gotten worse.

I'm taking anti-histamines. Using tear drops. Nothing has really changed in my life that I'm suddenly allergic to.

    Any suggestions?

Not sure if this will help. In the shower close your eyes and rub baby shampoo around them and rinse. It seems to help. Just keep your eyes shut until you rinse well. My Mom (a nurse) said it gets rid of pollen collecting there.

Have you been around any pets? I have a friend that gets red watery eyes when he is around cats or horses.

If you want to read more about eye allergies, here is a good link.....

Sometimes there is a higher amount of pollen in the air because of the weather. For example, this spring we had abnormally warm temperatures. Apparently the pollen count was three times the usual count. So people that have a sensitivity but don't normally react would actually end up reacting.

I hate having allergies... I hope they clear up for you!

I suffer from allergies too and I wear contacts (non-colored) and it's a nightmare LOL, you could buy this soothing wipes from Visine, they're supposed to clean your eyelid and the area surrounding your eyes, you can buy them @ Wal-Mart or Walgreens, although they're cheaper at W-M, they're like 9 bucks.
