I was about to discuss this myself. Very important topic and may
include information on the "gay events" section. I would encourage all of us to tune into CNN. Its about gay adoption, but also about raising children in a gay household. Important stuff.

Makes me sad that I don't have CNN but I'll catch it off the air soon enough. I feel that it is too important to miss for me. icon_smile.gif

Im watching it right now-its great so far-they are such a nice couple---its very sad to me how much money it costs gay men to have a baby using egg doners and surrogates-they said it can cost up to $160,000 and that their are only approx. 1000 gay men with kids in the U.S. who used surrogates...really sad....but im glad they are doing a show on it!

Really well done by CNN. Shocked too that only 1,000 gay men with kids through surrogates in the US. Didn't realize it is still so rare.

Great role model gay couple, in particular for younger gay men watching, now they know what to strive for.

It is going to be shown again on Saturday at 8pm and on Sunday at 8pm. CNN did a pretty good job with a controversial subject and avoided making it a confrontational political show. It is refreshing and inspiring to see two gay men as a committed couple working for the same life goals as most of America. Although not inspiring enough to make me want to have kids that will rob me of the time, money, and fun that I deserve to have in life.

I just read an article from Huffington Post critical of the documentary. If I could say one thing that I disliked about it, it would be something that has nothing to do with them being gay.

Why in the hell does the news think that only people who live in NYC or LA are representative of this country? Why another pair of successful yuppies in matching shorts? Life is not that pretty.

One possible answer is that they are easy to work with. They can shoot from NYC and be close to NYC's CNN headquarters. Or they were brought to the attention of CNN through some NYC social get together.

Also, the stereotypes still abounded. They HAD to show another gay pride parade. In this case I guess it is acceptable because the two are activists. But not all gay men are overt ACTIVISTS.

    IMPORTANT:
Whenever a film is made to try to reach "the other side," you cannot have stereotypes in it. The homophobes are looking to sniff them out and discredit the entire piece.

I was clicking back and forth between this show and another program. I saw at the baby shower one of the guys already has a daughter. Can someone please explain to me circumstances of her birth, I obviously missed the back story on that. Thanks
