To say that Glenn Beck is brain damaged is to insult people that actually are brain damaged.

I don't know about that. Recently, he has been spotlighting "Black Founding Fathers," those educated Negroes who participated in and informed the American Revolutionary period.

I think Blacks today are proud of those pioneers (if they've ever heard of them, that is...God knows that material will not be taught in public schools).

I sense that white Liberals are none too pleased to be reminded of the Black Founding Fathers, because their narrative for African-Americans is that they have always been utterly subjugated and not permitted to contribute or participate in American life.

Any invocation of the Black Founding Fathers threatens white Liberals' stranglehold on the hearts and minds of blacks, whom white Liberals need as a victimized class.

Interesting perspective. This still doesn't absolve all the other twisted, manipulated garbage that's come out of his mouth, but I'll look into this angle a little more. Independently of his influence.

He's only watched / listened to by a few million people. Out of 300+ million, that's merely a blip.

From the much respected (on here) Huffington Post:

Glenn Beck Hits 2010 Ratings LOW

I suppose I should have included a large "TV and Radio" following. Certainly his numbers are small compared to the entire US pop... but if you compare him to other political commentators....

Pundits use fear all the time... I think Beck is quick skilled at using fear to create a large following... which scares me.

I'm sorry to tell you guys, but Glenn Beck is actually correct in this. Not only that but his shows on Fridays, especially this past Friday have not only been pretty amazing, but they've been getting a lot of people angry. People get angry after they watch his show, and then start digging, and doing research on the names, and dates, and people talked about on his show.

There was actually already a civil rights movement going on, long before Martin Luther King. Not taking credit from him, because he did a great thing, and was a great man. However blacks in the late 1700's, and then in the 1800's were doing a hell of a lot, more than what they teach you in the history books.. Not even in the most expensive predigest schools university included.. Because of what they were doing, race relations and equality were moving right along just fine. There were also a lot of blacks who were teachers, preachers, politicians, judges, even doctors, and not segregated I might add. Blacks in early America were just as smart, just as brave, and just as much apart of this country as their white counter parts. In fact back in the old days of America, if you were in school, part of your history would be to learn about all of the black Americans who did great things during and after the war with the Brits. The historian on Beck's show had the old text book showing it, and it wasn't thin by no means.

So yea way back then blacks were making great progress in this country.. That is until one president came along, and the more I learn about this man, the more I think he should be right almost up there next to Hitler in evilness, Woodrow Wilson.

Woodrow Wilson hated the founding fathers, he also hated blacks big time. He wanted to change America into what he felt it should be. In order to own the future you have to change the past, and this is exactly what he did. It was believed too being that he was a very intellectual man (intellectually dishonest). He had gotten rid of all of the blacks that were in congress, segregated the military, and it was because of him there were separate bathrooms, fountains ect. He said that blacks had diseases and such, and many believed him because again he was a very intellectual man, and also the master of Propaganda so much that a book was even written about how to do it, and this book later inspired a man named Joseph Goebbels.

The KKK was actually created to go after Republicans, namely blacks who were Republican being that the Republican party was started by, and were nothing but a bunch of abolitionist. He had KKK members up in the white house, viewing movies that depicted blacks in horrible ways, saying how true these movies were.

As far as blacks and conservatives.. Blacks have always been conservative, MLK was a social conservative. MLK's niece was actually on Beck's show talking about her uncle and how he was and some of the things he believed in, when they were talking about the tea party people. The civil rights bill was actually created by Republicans, during Eisenhower's time. He didn't like the whole discrimination crap going on in America, but mostly felt it would be easy for communism to divide the country if it were allowed to continue. The Republicans overwhelmingly voted for this bill, the Democrats not so much, and didn't start to support it until it became politically convenient, and now they own it.

Because of Wilson, and men like him even today. History has been distorted and hidden so much, that it has not only divided our country, making people believe it isn't so special allowing them to get into other things that have proven to be fatal in the end. But lack of knowing it is the reason why we're in such trouble today, because we're repeating the bad mistakes of it. Now if you guys really are as open minded as you claim to be, and like learning.

I suggest you look at some of his interesting shows, and not take his word as fact as he always says... But go do your homework, write down the names, dates, and the people talked about on his show, and do some digging and research. It would be a lot better to do instead of listening to edited radio clips, or edited video clips, and then going on talking about how dumb he is and how he's this that and this.. I mean I find it pretty interesting that nobody is able to correct him, or the historians he's got on his show, that are uncovering all these old documents... Instead they just call him names, which all that does is give him great advertisement.

Facts are a dime a dozen.

Facts don't mean much on their own. Whether or not Glenn Beck accurately presents infomation is as not important as how he uses and applies that information.

How is he using this information? What is his purpose?

Plus, I don't think the general public is very good at conducting unbiased research.

You know I never cared for Glenn Beck, or even O'Reilly. Though when I started constantly hearing the negative things said about them, I wanted to check em out to see what was the big fuss.

Started watching their shows, reading their books. I'm looking for all of the things people who hate them claim them to be... Not finding it... I'm looking up the things they talk about especially on Beck's show, and not only do I find it to be true, but what is most disturbing is that nobody is correcting him, instead they insult him... That says a lot.

Certain people hate him, because he exposes things that certain people don't want to be exposed. This whole thing he's doing in DC, isn't about fear, and nobody is afraid. They've been extremely interested in the history that's been distorted, and even hidden for years. This has also made a lot of people very angry especially when they again do as he says which is to go do research on your own, he gives you the names, dates, and the people, talks a bit about em with the historians, and tells the viewer to go do your homework and not take his word for it. People do that, and they become angry in what they find.

I like Colbert, and Stewart, I think they're funny as hell.. But its hardly the source to go to, to get honest news about anyone. I mean I've seen so many edited clips of O'Reilly and Beck on his show its not even funny, though they are edited in ways to be funny. How do I know they're edited? Because I actually watch the shows (DVR), and then when I see these clips online, or on their shows, I'm like "hey why didn't they show this part, or that part, or why did they cut it like that?" I don't get all angry about it, because I know they do it for laughs... Unfortunately though there are a lot of people out there who don't think for themselves who will watch these clips, and think them as fact.

Come on! Even a broken clock is right twice a day. This isn't a reason to listen to Glenn Beck, this is a reason to buy a working clock.

This happens a lot for some reason: Glenn Beck is unfairly taken out of context, and is made an ass. The problem I see is, he IS an ass.

If you watch his show and start to believe in him, good on you. But don't mistake the rest of us for sheep.

The information is accurately presented, because he's got the 2 historians on his show mostly talking about it, There's also the audience asking a lot of questions. He started researching and digging and learning about this stuff, and he's said its shocked him, and made him very angry.

History is very important, and in learning real history you can easily see why we have the problems we do today, and so his purpose in doing this, is to basically show people this is why the country is pretty messed up.

On top of that, he's not up there trying to say "this party is good, and the other party is bad". He believes both parties are a mess, and there are snakes within both parties. He doesn't even have political guest on his show, he doesn't want to hear from em Republican, or Democrat. He's just got historians, and writers.

Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one, Obama is following the plan of Cloward & Piven, two professors at Columbia University. They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system with government spending and entitlement demands.

First... Colbert and Stewart are NOT news shows. They are comedy programs.

Beck, O'Reilly, Hannity, and their equivalents on the left are sensationalists. Their shows thrive on the fact that this is a polarized country. "Don't like something in the news? Let's blame the other party!"

They are all very political and polarizing.

This is my point. Yes they may be stating correct facts... but political bias and opinion often is right next to those facts. Some facts may even be controversial... but not presented in such a manner.

O'Reilly is impeccably biased... but his selected facts could mostly be true. (I used to watch him quite a bit.)

Facts don't mean much when you only present one side of the debate (or bring on a "weak" guest with the opposing viewpoint).

I could find many historians to refute his historians. So what. lol

Sorry, you are right. He may attack both Dems and Repubs... but he is certainly NOT a centrist. He is blatantly conservative.

And I disagree with him vigorously on his assertion that the Founding Fathers founded this nation as a Christian Nation--that's NOT history... nor is calling progressives a cancer to society.
