WalMart's Roll Back Joke!!

I noticed while shopping at WalMart a couple of weeks ago, that a lot of prices had been reduced...some, drastically. Each item had a Roll Back sign posted by it. I was thrilled to see that WalMart was actually doing something to help us in this God-forsaken economic mess we are in.
I have seen commercial after commercial on every single channel I watch on T.V. They're really doing a HUGE campaign about this.

BUT, today, I went shopping for some items I buy frequently, and noticed that the Roll Back signs had been removed from some items I was hoping to buy. Not only had the price been raised... it was HIGHER than it was before their phony Roll Back campaign.

Just another big retail giant doing what they can to get customers back..and then after luring them back into the store with phony pricing, they are back to their old tricks of screwing us all!!! I complained to the store manager, but I got the usual pat answer... we'll take it up with corporate... BULL SHIT.

They'll also raise prices slightly on dozens of items people buy for everyday use, so they can give steep discounts on large luxury items like flat panel TV's. Then after a large majority of the competition has been driven out of business.. they can keep their price raises on the regular stuff, and jack up the prices on those same luxury items.

You gotta give it to 'em. Smart smart strategies. But with a large hidden draw back.

shame on you for shopping at a retail organization that is denying its workers a union, denying its minority employees the chance to be promoted to certain upper level positions, taking a percentage out of their employees check to insurance that is not worth shit...or usable in cases of emergency. So dont come on here complaining when your voluntarily offering yourself to get ripped off. SHAME ON YOU. Watch this documentary--to entirety.

You know you can take it up with corporate yourself with 1800 WALMART. I would say that Wal-mart has a history of shady business practices. Even Sam-Walton did some shady stuff like relying on off the farm moms to be the workers in the store so he could pay them less since they wouldn't know what a descent wage was. After that the business was handed over to the Walton kids and they ran the company into the red for a few years before they handed the company over a few times. Now the president is Eduardo Castro who is about "cutting cost wherever possible so the price of goods will be lower" problem is where do you cut the cost?

I know our store was entitled to 6 out the 8 quarterly bonuses when I was working there. However somehow our store only recieved 2 and it always got caught in corperate as to why we didn't get our bonus.

What exactly did I say about wal-mart shoppers? Maybe you meant the third reply? By Teresues1?

And even his reply was sarcasm.. I don't think he was actually talking down to anybody.

What exactly did I say about wal-mart shoppers? Maybe you should re-read, buddy.

You're not the third post. The OP's thread opener isn't a post. I was referring to tereseus1, buddy.

I edited it to clarify what I meant. But a lot of people would have assumed you meant me.. and I don't want others thinking I was talking down about somebody.

Well up here a Walmart opened all by its lonesome nearby in a proposed mall. THEN businesses came. Walmart brought a mass of consumers and businesses are popping up everywhere to take advantage. Everything from specialty shops to London Drugs, higher end food store chains etc.

Ironically Walmart pays more than many of them. While everyone including Safeway likes to pay a little more than minimum wage, Walmart starts people off at more than 2 dollars an hour above that.

We also have tough labour laws up in Canada. We're union happy, something good that the US has strangely forgotten about the merits of. Why is it good? Because to keep the unions at bay, the pay and benefits have to be enough to keep the employees from organizing. As well, many Canadians are trigger happy when it comes to voting at the cash register, something else the US forgot how to do, so Canadians are often quick to march their wallets over to stores that pay their staff enough to survive on.

As for the race thingy, the Walmart here is 90% ethnic minorities and only about 10% white, and the white ones are working in the aisles stocking shelves, not management (though there are a few). It's impeccably clean, friendly; good produce and prices. This is a boon for seniors on fixed incomes and workers like those at McDonald's etc who make minimum wage plus an extra whopping 5 to 10 cents an hour.

What offends us a little when we drive by or go in is seeing 100,000 dollar SUVs in the parking lot and the trophy wives that shop there. Although...... it could be the SUV, the million dollar home and the taxes etc have used up the ol' bank account and Walmart is all they have left.

Look again. The Walmarts in my area are being taken over by Indian (slurpee, not casino) families. While white Liberals bitch about Walmart, these families have quietly gotten in at the entry-level and now occupy all the higher level positions. Good for them. They are true Americans.

    Sure I do.

However, protesting out of ignorance is stupid. Most of the white Liberals there have no clue about what they are protesting. They are the knee-jerk types who have just learned by imitation that when there is any type of economic "summit," you're supposed to go there are burn cars and smash stuff, and then claim to be a "political prisoner" when you get arrested.

But I support their right to remain ignorant nonetheless.

What is NOT ok is violence and vandalism.

Well, there's nothing in here about 'white liberals' so we don't get it.

But there was this in it..

"Toronto Mayor David Miller said at a news conference that the so-called anarchists are simply criminals who are determined to cause as much destruction as possible."

    Anarchists are not Liberals.

lol, well we're trying not to be, but you named a splinter group of violent protesters as white liberals, and that's obtuse too without explaining or citing links to this.
