I've always been kinda proud to be a member on this site, and always appreciated that sex was never the main topic here (at least in my experience- love my chat buddies !!! :] ... ok maybe the occasional reference / topics) . Anyway, what is up with this email??? haha

    LOL. Consider:

How many guys are on this site?

How many guys use it to take part in discussions?

    ...and then reconsider your assumptions.

The RJ site needs money, too, and advertising is the only way to get it. They picked a company that would generate a fair number of responses, which increases their revenue.

Still, I was a little surprised when I saw that ad this morning...

I to was mildly surprised to receive what is in effect spam from the site its self rather then a rogue member.

I understand the desire to develop a better income stream for the site to pay bills and build the site, perhaps a better way would be to develop solutions to the advertising blocking going on with browsers such as firefox ad block or develop a more niche advertising market that pays directly rather then with clicks like I believe much of this site is based on, this site and community is a niche market, many members are far better off and willing to spend money for this site, they are also i bet, willing to view advertising that is more directed to the members rather then as a general keyword type advertising going on.

I believe that is the owner/developer where to try for something more novel with the advertising on this site they'd reap the benefits from its members.

Btw why doesn't rj have it's own store yet or links to say amazon or other stores that provide a percentage of the income generated from this site from people who purchase goods through an affiliate link? These in the right market and properly targeted can generate a tidy income...

Well, if they're going to spam, why don't they grab for GNC or something fitness related? I think they sold out like a cheap whore. Probably developers are friends or something and are trying to make yet another manhunt/adam4adam because those sites just don't work well enough... (sarcasm).

I think that when I start putting money out of my pocket to help cover the financial costs this site incurs I'll have a voice in how the site decides to finance a website I pretty much use 24 hours a day/7 days a week for free.

I, like many others, did prefer the way it was before when you were able to block ads as a preferred member by paying a membership fee, with other options as well. I can understand the change, but while the number of members increased, it is quite possible that the number of paid subscribers did not increase. So, internet ad sales is helping to keep Real Jock free, IMHO.

I sent the site a message that I'd be willing to pay for an iPhone app, but apparently they are only going to do a mobile version of the site, which won't generate money. I'd pay up to $5 for a full featured RJ app since I use the site all day long.
