I myself am a personal fan of the step machine, I prefer it over cardio anytime (ofcourse when I do cardio I actually just run or walk around the city while listening to music).

Who else prefer using a step machine?

I hate it for a long slog on a cardio machine. But it is my favorite for HIIT.

As long as it's not storming or cold, I'd much rather do cardio outside.
Indoor go-nowhere cardio sucks; and it's very rare when I do it. But when I do, I prefer the elliptical machine.

I'm married to the treadmill. I cheat with the bike sometimes. I've bonked the elliptical but we didn't mesh. I've done the step a few times but I usually don't call it the next morning...

I still love step machines--both the Stairmaster and the huge machine that looks like a mini-escalator. Both are great for your ass.

I love ( hate ) the step machine. I'd prefer to swim, run, hike, get outside in some way, but if I do my cardio in the gym I always go half an hour on the step's interval setting.

I also love the step machine but I try to balance out the varity of carido workouts I do every gym session. The step machine does a really good job on strengthening the thighs and butt and it can be challenging especially if it is a high level. I normally burn 293 calories in a 20 min cardio session using the step machine.
