Yes - Thank you sluggo - I was driving and didn't hear who was the source.
    But found this on macrumors.com

Bloomberg briefly reports that multiple sources are claiming that the iPhone will launch on Verizon in January of next year, marking the end of AT&T's exclusivity for the device in the United States.
Verizon Wireless, the largest U.S. mobile-phone company, will start selling Apple Inc.'s iPhone next year, ending AT&T Inc.'s exclusive hold on the smartphone in the U.S., two people familiar with the plans said.

The device will be available to customers in January, according to the people, who declined to be named because the information isn't public.

Verizon and Apple representatives either declined to comment on the reports or did not return requests for comment.

Verizon has long been a popular topic for rumors regarding expanded iPhone partnerships in the United States. One recent report had suggested that a Verizon iPhone could make an appearance as soon as November, but most observers have been expecting a 2011 launch on the carrier.

This rumor has persisted since the iPhone first launched. I wouldn't get overly excited until you hear it from Apple and Verizon.

    From Engadget:
Stop us if you've heard this one before: Bloomberg says Verizon will get the iPhone... sometime in January. Yep, it's another fuzzy rumor sourced from "two people familiar with the plans," and while we really do believe Big Red will eventually get the iPhone in our lifetimes, at this point we're beyond cynical about pieces like this -- chatter about a Verizon iPhone now regularly reaches deafening levels before crashing down in yet another cloud of AT&T-exclusive dust. However, if you must insist on living this impossible dream, Bloomy's latest rumor does at least line up with the piece from the Wall Street Journal in March claiming that CDMA iPhone would begin production in September, giving Apple plenty of time to ramp up for a January launch.

I think this is true, but it could be wishful thinking.

Bloomberg has been making these unsupported statements for the past 3 years. Don't believe it until you actually walk into a Verizon store and see the iphone for sale.

I just switched from iPhone to Motorola Droid (Verizon) b/c I get shitty reception pretty much in any building except my own. I was very skeptical at first, because I loved my iPhone. Aside from a couple of medical apps that I like to use that are iPhone exclusive (for now), I LOVE my Droid. It's sooooo much more customizable, a shit ton faster, waaaay better reception, cheaper per month with more minutes, better resolution (sans iPhone4) and actually has BETTER apps. Plus, since Android apps are open (beta), anyone can make them, meaning soon there will be just as many apps as the iPhone.

    Just my 0.02

Bloomberg cited two "sources." This is FAR from confirmed. The iPhone will make it to another carrier at some point, whether Verizon or someone else. But, Apple does things on their own timetable. And these sort of reports have been wrong before. As with any Apple-related rumor, I'll believe it when I see it.

Well said, best just to wait and see at least a singed and stamped contract.

I also read it was unconfirmed. According to that report and others, when and if the iPhone comes to Verizon, it won't be on the current 3G EVDO network, but the new 4G network, LTE, that Verizon will be building. If that's the case, then the maturity and good reputation of Verizon's current system will not necessarily apply to their 4G system in the near-term. In other words, coverage could be spotty. BTW - AT&T will also be building a 4G system using the same standard as Verizon.

I think those of us with the iPhone 4 with a 2 year commitment to AT&T are in good shape. That will give AT&T time to get their 4G system running with a 3G to fall back to, and will give Verizon a year to get their 4G mature. I think Verizon will need more time to mature their 4G system because I don't think the iPhone will ever run the Verizon 3G system, so there will not be a 3G system for iPhone users to fall back to when the 4G does not have coverage.
