I am 29 and have been tucking my shirt in my underpants since High School but I have yet to run across any one else who does the same thing.
Any one else out there who does this?icon_confused.gif

Why would you tuck it into your underwear when your pants hold it just fine? icon_confused.gif

I sometimes have a problem with the waistband showing above my pants.

Does this ever happen to you?

    Your shirt?? Not your under-shirt/t-shirt?

How does tucking your shirt into your underwear keep the waist band from being seen above your pants?
Just from looking at your pic by the post, I can see that your underwear band would be visible above your waistband of your pants when you bend over.
I do think you're being facetious.

I do tuck an undershirt into my shorts when wearing a T under a dress shirt, to prevent bunching. And back when I was still able to wear trim & tapered "club" shirts to gay night spots, my waist a 32, I'd sometimes tuck them into my underwear, too, if the shorts were low-rise enough to not show above my belt line.

The idea was the keep the shirt taut to hug my chest, and not get all blousey especially while dancing. We sometimes did the same thing with our Army Officer "tans" and later our green Class-B short-sleeve shirts, for a sharper appearance. But here in the Florida heat, wearing mostly cargo shorts, and with the waist I have today, I don't even tuck my shirt inside my pants, much less my underwear.

The waistband of my underpants does show frequently above my pants but, then I am not consciously trying to hide it. If it shows it shows it doesn't really bother me.

I was under the impression that this practice had its roots in the military. The idea was to keep nice clean lines in the shirt, and prevent the bunching up that can occur at the belt line when you rely on your pants for full support.

I see by Wilton's response that it does seem to be a practice that is at least maintained in the military.

I am not under 30, but I will say that for occasions when I want to look my best I still occasionally tuck the shirt in my underwear. Obviously, this works best with underwear that fits snugly and remains below the belt line such as briefs.

My undershirt goes under the band of my shorts. But the shirt per se goes over the underwear and inside the pants. Which is the way it is supposed to be done.
