Argentina's Senate Rejects Catholic Church's Push To Put Gay Marriage Up For Vote

    [quote]
The news comes a day after an estimated 2,000 people rallied in front of the National Congress urging lawmakers to approve the gay marriage bill. Lily Allen's “Fuck You (Very Much),” which includes the line “So you say it's not OK to be gay. Well, I think you're just evil. Your point of view is medieval,” was a popular song heard throughout the day.

So wait...South America, which has a higher concentration of Roman Catholics per capita is displaying a much more ecumenical and socially progressive viewpoint on LGBTIQA (and any other letter I left out) rights than the "liberal" and "religiously free" state of America?

Oh my goodness. 2012 is for real! The world truly IS ending!

Oh my dear, that ship (of moral leadership of the "free world") has long since sailed.

In a large number of issues of human rights, the U.S. was overtaken long ago by some of the better democracies of Europe, then (South) Africa. Now add Latin America to that.

Some countries understand how meddlesome the catholic church is from experience.

It takes a willingless to learn from experience, and maybe less lead in the water.

The U.S. never learns from its own experience with its evangelicals and mormons.

Once upon a time the paranoid public feared those nasty Irish coming into our country bringing a religion where you bowed to some far off pope.

I guess those fears have been realized.
