So Valentine's Day is coming up and I dunno if anyone else feels this way about the holiday but i really don't like it. It seems like every year people go crazy over Valentine's Day while I'm here kinda depressed yet kinda glad I'm not one of those crazies spending tons of money on stuff for their "love". Maybe I just need to find someone but right now i really do hate the holiday. Anyone else feel the same way or do I just need to find someone special and be like everyone else?? lol icon_lol.gif

Yeah, have to say, you'd probably feel dramatically differently if you had a valentine!

Well let me say that my bf isn't real gung ho about Valentines Day. He doesn't care much for it. I get this, "Why do we have to be told we need to go out and buy something for our spouse, lover, partner, date.. etc? Some years we haven't done much, other years we have. For me, its always nice to be remembered and I do enjoy it, but it isn't required.

I think I'd drop over if he sent me flowers. He isn't into that.. I think its great.
Now my birthday and Christmas.... he goes out of his way to make sure I have nice gifts..

I have always hated Valentines Day. It just reminded me that I was alone. This would be my first Valentines Day in a relationship. I thought my feeling would change now that im in a relationship....but I still cant stand the it. Thankfully my bf hates it just as much as I do. Im going to just cook dinner (he will help a little), have some wine, get him some harbor sweet chocolates and some sexy underwear.

I'm not bitter. I just don't like this particular day. To me this holiday is just a Hallmark gimmick that makes people feel that they have to over emphasize the word "love' on this day and spend bubdles of money to say how much they love someone. That's horrible. Why is this particular day needed in order to say "I love you?"

When I am in a relationship, I enjoy the day to focus on my partner and gush a bit on him [no puns here]...sometimes that doesn't always happen when you get into a normal routine as a couple...

When I am not partnered, I enjoy the day to focus on my friendships and myself...heading out with the boys and trying a new restaurant this year...

Although I do think it's a bit of a hallmark holiday...for my lifestyle...sometimes I need the calendar to remind me to throw my routine out the window and do something special...

I find it agonizing -- men pelting my windows day and night with chocolate candies, scattering rose petals in my bed if I let them in the house. I get paper cuts from opening all the cards I receive. And it's a three-Viagra day. I just find it a lot of work.

I'm not a HUGE fan of ANY of the Holidays because of the OVER commercialization of them. If you take the true meaning of each Holiday and just focus on you, your partner, your relationship, friends and family that should make for a GREAT time! I like to give unconventional gifts, random stuff to make them laugh or smile. So I choose to boycott Hallmark on Holidays and for V-Day I like giving out the Elementary School Valentines Cards, they're STILL fun!!!

It's bittersweet... I work in a floral shop... Here are some price "changes" for V-day.

    Normal price V-Day Price
    1 rose - 3.00 5.00
    Classic dozen 35.00 59.99
    Classic dozen 45.00 79.99
    with babies breath
    Plus a 10.00 delivery charge...

Oh, I can't wait... Somebody might die and mysteriously vanish into the back floral cooler in a trash bag.

Personally, I enjoy celebrating Black Thursday (aka Valentine's Day). And as mentioned above, think of the money I save and can spend on ME!
