It's M. Night Shyamalan. It, by definition, will suck. I try not to judge things before I watch them, but I've been burned 5 times in a row by the man. That's a pattern. Through the scientific method, I judge that The Last Airbender will suck.

now that u know it sucks, u have decreased expectations.
then see the movie. it wont compare to the cartoon. too much packed in 1.5 hours but the movie closely followed the story of the series. u can still see katara's improving waterbending skills though. spoiler, i didnt see the cabbageman!!!

at least i guess correctly by looking at previews all characters are messed up.

i havent see it but with all the bad input not worth the time...
i dont want to hear it hard to squeeze a season into a movie cause it has been done successful ...

character developement dont over exaggarate bending since it done in every day life alot of espsodes can be skipped or condenced without a problem.
in a hour and 30 minutes a good portion of book one could be explained fully and any major event skip could be fix later in a follow up movie with flashbacks... all the character had a well developed personaility and to hear that was excluded it kinda sad..
would have been better doing a movie that was off from storyline like pokemon movies do at least then you can add characters correctly without messing it up...

Haven't seen it, hear it's horrible.

This is what I don't get: Nickelodeon did really well translating some of their shows to feature films (Rugrats, The Wild Thornberries, etc). So why did they think Airbender needed to be made into a live action film instead of an animated one? And who the hell hired Shyamalan?

    M. Knight is toast. I won't pay good money to see "Airbender," but the critics I do admire say it's one of the worst movies of the year--confusing, aimless, muddy-looking and, worst of all, boring.

If you don't believe me, go to rottentomatoes.com and read some of the reviews. Then go rent "Dark City" for a much better sci-fi experience.

    I called it.

M.Knight is a murder of great possibilities and now he has killed a great series. Nickoladeon should sue his ass. LOL.He should be banned from making movies.

Best movie he did was 6th Sense. The rest where just horrible.

I saw it in 2D (because of a friend's astigmatism...) so I don't know about the 3D effects. Personally, I enjoyed the movie. My friends saw it before me and said it sucked. I was hesitant to see it, but I'm glad I did. I'm going to see it again in 3D.

For people expecting perfection, it's kinda hard to include 22 episodes of material into one movie. Some things are going to be left out.

    I hope there's a Book 2 and 3.

Ok I saw the movie last night with family and friends. To be honest I really enjoyed it. You said that it sucked but you are lying to yourself. Was it great, no. I think it lack somethings and needs to improve for more future movies I hope. But I really enjoyed it and hope they will make 2 and three. You say u dont want to waste your money but I think you are missing out on a beautiful movie. I give it a 7 or an 8. Will agree, needs a different director

I agree with the last post. With a new directors (and maybe some new actors) the next two movies have potential icon_smile.gif Besides, Book 2 and 3 are better anyways. I wonder who will be Toph...

I just felt like way too much was squeezed into the first half of the movie, the rest was fine though. The other two books should be fine as long as they don't attempt to throw in too much again.

I really didn't like the movie's Zuko either, I'll definitely agree, but the rest of the casting seemed alright, I was especially surprised by Sokka.

    M. Night Shyamalan: The End is Near (for His Career)

    by Mel Valentin Jul 4th 2010 // 1:02PM
If you harbored hopes, no matter how unrealistic, no matter how unfounded, that M. Night Shyamalan, for the first time working from a source other than an original screenplay, would make a quality film, then your hopes were unfortunately misplaced. His latest, possibly last film, The Last Airbender fails without reservation or qualification in every conceivable category: story, characters, dialogue, and performances. Only the visual effects (thanks Industrial Light & Magic) save The Last Airbender from being completely unwatchable, but even there, the post-production 3D conversion makes The Last Airbender look dim, very much like M. Night Shyamalan's career prospects after this debacle.

I knew this was going to happen .... Hey that might make a great Movie

Does it count as seeing it if I've dreamed of it? Just wondering cause it was total awesomeness.
