My friend had been suffering for almost a year with a lack of sex drive, a lack of motivation to go to the gym and a subsequent weight gain. He is only 46.
I talked him into just asking his Doctor during a recent exam to simply check his Testosterone levels. Guess what? Out of a reference range of Total Serum, Non-fasting 280-800 ng/dl he ranked 240!

After just 3 doses of Androgel so far, he is beginning to be his old self again: laughing more, and oogling hot guys again!

I'm 53. I'm getting my checked next exam in 3 weeks!

Good for you guys! Mine was 209 when I had mine done. Needless to say I was dragging my ass around and not feeling alert along with no sex drive. Now? Well, I feel muuuuuuuuch better.

I asked my doctor if he would check mine because Im not packing on much muscle and felt like a hairy chest would be kinda sexy and he just plain refused to, almost patronizing- he said I was better of spending my money elsewhere.
Can you do this at home?icon_biggrin.gif

Does your T-level just naturally drop as you get older? Why a change in it?

Yes, your t-level naturally drops as you get older, but usually not as much his did. I have no clue as to what causes it.

Is there a correlation between testosterone levels and your having a hairy chest..isn't that more genetics than hormonal?

And yes, apparently you CAN test this at home:

BUT! I do think I would let a professional do the test, because no matter how many at-homes you do....you CANNOT write a prescription for it!icon_wink.gif

You can get the lab test done yourself. for example:

I had the same symptoms (although I didn't take exact note of my testosterone level). I suggested to my doctor that it might be my testosterone level, which he had tested, said it was a little low, but he didn't think there was any cause for concern. Thanks a lot, Doc, you're not the one dragging yourself through the day, every day...

Got my results recently. My doctor put me on Androgel. When I was reading the side effects it said: '...in the very unlikely event you have a painful or prolonged erection lasting 4 or more hours, stop using this drug and seek immediate medical attention...' By seeking immediate attention I suppose they don't mean starting a Manhunt account. icon_wink.gif
