McCain's only remaining active opposition candidate is Huckabee...

Interesting... even in his 'concession' speech Romney felt he needed to attack gays and 'liberal appointed judges'...

Did you catch the part where he said Europe was being culturally destroyed by ethnic invaders because of Europe's godlessness?

Five minutes in I thought it was the best speech he had given all campaign. Then he said pretty much that he was leaving because the war on terrorism. I swear, the man must have been doing an Andy Kaufman routine all this time.

So.... where will the Republican Party turn? I have heard a lot of them can't stand McCain. I wonder who McCain will choose as a running mate if he is the presidential nominee?

    McCain - Romney ticket

    McCain - Huckleberry ticket

    McCain - Giuliani ticket

I guess the Republican Party might say, "anyone but a Democrat". I have also heard mention of the suicide voters.

Funny enough I can see a McCain/Lieberman ticket. He's been aiming to get back at the Dem's, and this would be the way to do it, and neutralize Obillary....

Romney stated, essentially, that he quit so as "the war" may continue!

The war is the only real issue. If we lose, no other issue will matter. Our enemies will be all over us and our interests in no time. You may not like the war, but you owe your cushy lifestyle to it.
Senator McCain is the only candidate with the experience and knowledge to handle it.
Whatever you think of him, electing him will send a clear message to Al Qaeda, China, Iran, North Korea and the emerging new Soviet Union that we Americans aren't to be fucked with.
Electing a Democrat will send the same message Spain did after the Madrid bombing, that we are pussies and want to run away.
The economy isn't an issue, if China and Iran cut off our oil, our economy is sunk anyway. If the Russians go back to threatening western Europe, and North Korea threatening Japan we won't have anymore allies. The Al Qaeda attacks on 9/11 were a devastating blow to our economy, elect a Democrat and we can have more, only it wouldn't be a Pearl Harbor sneak attack. The Jamaat ul Fuqua homegrown terrorists will be ready to start some homegrown terrorism. And finally then there are those hispanic nutbuckets who want to start a war here in the US to establish Atzlan or some such thing.
Sending a message of weakness signals them to go after
us. Hillary or Obama arent ready for that, Senator McCain is.

Are you on hallucinogens? We owe our lifestyle to the war??? What did we owe our lifestyle to BEFORE the war?

This is inane even by your standards.

This will sound harsh, but I don't think the presidency should be in the hands of an ex-POW. McCain is a hero, but I think his brain is quite possibly too damaged and he just barely covers it up. PTSD does not a world leader make. His imminent senility will only make matters worse.

I also said this about recovering alcoholics in 2000 and 2004. Amazing people when they turn their life around, but permanently unfit to be a world leader. Unfortunately, that thinking was validated.

McCain is going to be 73. I think if he's nominated, the VP is going to be a very important choice, because he could spend more time in office than McCain.

The Repugnicans have ruthless and unscrupulous people in their ranks - take a look at Chenney. It would not surprise me if the oil and war monger types will realize that they can't stop McCain from getting the nomination, but they will sign on to back him if he picks their VP choice - probably Jeb Bush. Then surprise surprise, McCain has a stroke - the neo-cons go back to stripping all the wealth out of the American citizens as they push us toward backruptcy that dissolves the constitution and puts wealthy families and industrial-military complex in charge (Facism).

The war in Iraq needs to be scuttled. Its not about America loosing, its a brutal fact that NO NATION NOW OR EVER has been able to afford prolonged long-distance military campaigns using tax coffers. There isn't enough oil in Iraq, gold, diamonds or wealth otherwise for the US to get the .5 trillion dollars back that we've spent there.

It makes all the sense of paying 10 million dollars to educate a crack hoe on how to wait tables at a greasy spoon.

It doesn't make sense because some idiot says 'We've promised to train her and we're committed and she's not responsible for her life, we are (since we killed her pimp). Please approve another 1 million to continue her education because she still don't know what the hell she's doing.'

That idiot is McCain and any other Pro Iraq war nut.

Vote for someone who has the sense to GET OUT. Better yet, vote for someone who had the sense not to vote to go in in the first place.

If you are going to criticize an entire country, in this case, Spain, perhaps you should know a little history. The Madrid bombings happened shortly before the election. As in the USA, the government at that time in Spain, controlled by the Popular Party, the more conservative of the two main political parties, tried to use fear to control the people. The PP claimed that the bombings were the fault of the Basque Separatists, ETA, even though the bombings had no relation to the typical ETA MO. A few days after the bombings, when the details began to come out that they were more likely connected to terrorists from Northern Africa, principally Morocco, the government were seen as liars and rightly so. There were huge demonstrations in Madrid and other places around the country and the PSOE, the socialists, won the election. The PSOE subsequently got Spain out of Iraq, but that was more a response to the people, 92% of which were against Spain being in Iraq. This has nothing to do with being pussies and wanting to run away. This has to do with Spain being a democracy. Can you say the same now about the USA?

You got it correct, but the news mediums only promote their-own: liberals, like McCain!

Okay, that's it. I want to know the names and dosages of the drugs you're taking. McCain is to liberal as you are to coherence.

MunchingZombie the quote you gave of Romney condemning Europeans for their "godlessness" is why United Statesians (as my brother-in-law calls you) are disliked by so many people around the world. Talking about ignorant and arrogant icon_mad.gif.

I know though that his views are not supported by the majority of Americans, it is just Romney's neo-con views are the ones everybody seems to remember.

As for the comments by John43620 that if the USA fails in Iraq their enemies will be all over them, all I can say is WTF is that all about? First of all nobody will really know of the full impact of the USA's invasion for many years to come (I will be long dead I am sure). Secondly the invasion of Iraq has probably increased the threat to the USA from terrorists significantly. After 9/11 the USA for the first time in decades had the sympathy of nearly the whole world, then in a matter of 2 years the Bush administration managed to throw it all away by an unnecessary invasion. Truly one of the biggest foreign policy blunders by any Western government since the Napoleonic Wars.

If George W. Bush does not go down as one of the 5 worse presidents of all time I would be very surprised.

As for John McCain being the Republican nomination I think he is probably the best choice, I just wish he was 63 not 73. Matter of fact I wish he had been the nomination in 2000. He probably would not have let the CIA mislead him about the dangers Iraq posed, and if he had invaded he would have done it properly not half-ass like Rumsfeld. I just hope he does not pick a social conservative as a VP to appease the christian right.icon_eek.gif

I wish that narrow-minded religious right lunatic from Arkansas Huckabee would finally drop out of the GOP race for president. Yes I am glad to see Romney quit the GOP race because he is a hypocrite. First he appears moderate but then all of a sudden he becomes a conservative hardliner who blames the democrats, gays, blacks, and anyone else for the serious problems facing this country. His comments blaming Europe's serious problems on its increased godlessness are not only ignorant but totally off-the-wall. I say goodbye and good riddance to that Mormon hypocrite Mitt Romney.

If Juan McCain becomes El Presidente, I am certain he will reach across the aisle to the Republicans. The two-faced angry old man considered being John "Swifty the Ketchup Queen" Kerrey's VEEP! What a traitor. Thank you for your service, Capt McCain. I pay (mandatory) each month to the Navy-Marine Corps retirement home- thats where he belongs!
