/ There is just something creepy about the closet at night. I'm afraid Tom Cruise or someone might jump out of it.icon_smile.gif

As for Paranormal Activity 2, I'll pass. Ghost movies still scare the crap out of me and I need my 8 hours of sleep.

After 5 minutes of the guy in the first one filming every thing with his shaky video camera I said "He needs to die."

After 30 mins of watching, I was ready for both of them to die.icon_neutral.gif

I cheered when she supposedly flung his lifeless corpse into the godamn video camera!!!icon_wink.gif

    Will I watch this so-called 2?

Um. No. I might get homicidal if I do.

I think Paranormal Activity plays well enough in a theater, especially with its really obtrusive sound effects. That low rumbling kept my whole theater in their seats through the final reel, which is no small feat. But I have really stupid aesthetic sensibilities and enjoy small casts, single location films, and I watch practically all of those terrible ghost hunting shows. I clearly overrated it.

That said, the trailer for Paranormal Activity 2 is one of the worst trailers I've ever seen. I'm reminded of Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, where a studio rushes to capitalize on a sensation and ends up ruining a potential franchise. I'll see it, but I doubt it'll be anything but awful.

I agree with you here Studly! The couple was so annoying! I am not sure how this will play out. I mean it would be like doing the Sixth Sense 2! What's the point?

There's like a 90% chance that this movie is going to suck

Paranormal Activity has all the earmarks of a one hit wonder where the maker of the original just hit on a novel idea that no one tapped before
Now that it's been tapped so to speak ... it's been there done that

We only have to go back a few years to the Blair Witch Project
Remember that hot mess of a sequel that one spawned?

But maybe just maybe they'll be able to overcome the obstacles and push out an entertaining movie
I'm not gonna hold my breath

Ditto, the first one kept me up two nights. Horror movies aren't all that great...

Being a horror-writer, even raved about Paranormal Activity and I figured I'd give it a whirl. Great concept, surely, awful execution.

Why the handicam activity? Why use non-actors?

    Sometimes acting really helps...

i didn't see the film but i heard it was shot entirely from a fixed camera in the corner of the room. was there any panning at all or did you get to see the rest of the house?

my god that film must have made the audience feel claustrophobic.

as for ghost movies, i've had enough experience with weirdness in the real world, i don't need to feed my mind with that stuff any more.

i've heard "the fourth kind" was a well done modern ghost story...

I REALLY like ghost stories, even though I don't believe in ghosts. I LOVE old horror movies on low budgets. My all-time favorite is still The Exorcist (not low budget). So I thought I'd really like Paranormal Activity. I was psyched. And I was VERY disappointed. Not scary. Not unpredictable. Every single damn 'scary' part was shown in the trailers. I, too, wanted the characters to die b/c they were so annoying. I laughed a few times, and didn't jump once. This movie sucked.

I will NOT be seeing any future installment of this turdfilm.

Weird, I just watched paranormal activity for the first time last night.

I don't think it would have scared me a bit if I hadn't started watching it at 1:30am, alone, in the dark, in my bed. I think that, combined with a couple crazy ouija experiences I had when I was younger, were the only reasons I got creeped out. Either way, the ending was awful. The subtle things that happened were scarier than the ridiculous dragging out of bed scene and ending.

I actually really liked the fist Paranormal Activity. I thought it was much better than The Blair Witch Project, which was a similar sort of movie. Not really sure what more can be done with the characters from the first Paranormal Activity after the way the first one ended - could be interesting though. I like scary movies in general so I'd be willing to check it out.

again, i didn't see the original, but there was no ghost visible in it, right? it was more a psychological-type thriller than a real horror movie.

and so now, in the 2 they give the ghost a face and body?

sheesh, they'll dumb down even stuff that's already dumbed down...

The first one really got under my skin. There were a couple of times within a week or two of watching it, when I was spooked to walk around the house at night unless the lights were on.

Ok, so now the girl who died in the first movie is haunting this house. Interesting twist.

Basically, Paranormal Activity was the beginner's guide for "What NOT to do if you suspect that your home may be haunted". The entire movie, my pagan friends and I were mocking the actors for being so idiotic, but then getting scared when shit went down. lol

I will be truly interested to see how they get the dog to respond in the movie. Animals are probably the BEST way to see if your house is haunted. Cats especially are probably the best way to determine what part of the house is haunted.

You ONLY saw a "physical" presence ONCE when it becomes a shadow up against the wall (which is, effin' CREEPY imo!!)

But yes psychological & camera tricks. Old school stuff.

On the site of the movie after the trailer there is words on the floor or something that says "where is Hunter?" & at the end of the trailer you hear a voice say "there is no hunter" - anyone notice that?
