Dimples of Venus Discussion

At the gym lately I've realized that whenever anyone lifts up their shirt to wipe some sweat off their face to reveal their glistening back, those that grab my attention the most have these dimples on their lower backs:

They are interesting looking, some might find them extremely hot, others might find them weird.

They exist on people with various fitness levels, from the extra thin to the overweight and everything in between.

Is this phenomena a matter of genetics like the dimples I have on my face? Or can working out the lower back muscles help express these dimples for those of us who don't have them, like yours truly?

Feel free to share your opinions, facts, knowledge and any other form of chitchat you can bring to the thread.

    Thanks

Really? I have never seen them on anybody significantly overweight.
The dimples correspond to the location of a specific region of the iliac bone called the posterior superior iliac spine. It may be more pronounced on some than on others because of variation in the bone itself. My best recommendation is simply keeping the fat to a minimum, but even that might not always work.

I don't have a definitive answer for you, but I do have a morbidly obese friend who still has these "Dimples of Venus" apparent on her low back, they're more pronounced for the non-muscle tissue in the surrounding area.

I was thinking about the phenom earlier today actually. Specifically I had noted on my own body how sensitive to touch they are and got to thinking about stimulation there during sexual activity and how it might affect area muscle groups. I'll have to let you know if I get some experiments done ;)

I think it's where the muscles of the lower lumbar vertebrae and the gluteus maximus meet. icon_confused.gif

I think more lower back and butt exercise would do it. icon_wink.gif

Take mine, PLEASE. Not only are mine deeply dimpled, they're also freakishly darker, like two extra rosebuds!
A former boyfriend use to joke that it looked like "someone broke the handle off while you were being delivered".
