I hate Iphones because of the lingering Smug over America...I am not into that techy stuff anyhow.

The only problem with the EVo is if you don't want to use Sprint, of course the same can be said with the iPhone and AT&T. Ugh, cell phone exclusivity.

    *That was damn funny*

    --Sent from my iPhone4G

(Seriously....that was funny and I agree most people don't know why they want the phone they get. Incidentally, that's equally true for the "anti-iPhone" people....all they know is that the DON"T want an iPhone).

Also, by the way, what was not on that snarky but funny presentation, just to point out that there was a point-of-view that covers up some issues:

    WiFi: iPhone, 802.11b/g/n and 802.11n 2.4GHz; Evo 802.11b/g
Battery: iPhone, 7 Hours talk on 3G; Evo, 5.5 hrs
Hidden Costs: iPhone 16 GB (min). Evo 1 GB (you'll need to buy flash memory).

And, for the other point of view, what the OP didn't want you to see:icon_biggrin.gif

This was so funny but I love my AT&T. Everyone else service is bogus and I got everything on my plan for a low price. was thinking about getting the iphone but now hearing HTC is better. Will it be out for ATT?

not an apple apologist here.... love my iphone.... but reality check in order to counter the 'cute' video from the OP - http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/devices/apple-iphone-4-vs-htc-evo-4g/

digitaltrends prefers the Evo's camera (8MP), but pc magazine and several other sources prefer the iphone 4 camera (5MP) - http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2364784,00.asp

    i have a moto droid...with verizon.

my OP was more about how people blindly want something...especially those who may already have a perfectly good iphone but now *suddenly* need an iphone 4.

one of apple's worst commercials.... 'lemmings'

  • Jul 05, 2010 9:59 PM GMT
I love both vids! They were made by the same guy who works at a best buy, who might get fired for making them actually. Hillarious!!! Both phones are so similar I suppose it really doesn't matter. I have a EVO.. I'm jealous.. not really but admire the Iphones Hi Res screen but I can video chat even when I dont have WiFi.. ! Each phone has its ups and down.. I'm just waiting for Grindr on the android platform with video support.. :-) !hank you! icon_razz.gif

Not if you view it in the context of the times. At that time, any Apple computer user was assailed by the PC users for: (a) possessing a "toy", not a computer; (b) not possessing the computer that was mainstream and used by everyone else who knew anything about computers.

Mostly, it showed that Apple's advertising department was clever at "snarky" ads, that they also did well with the recent set of "I'm a PC" ads, but just lately pulled down (probably because they realized it was overkill).

I was always bemused by the debate. I don't give a flying f**k which computer people use. Meanwhile I was turning out photo books and interactive videos with the so-called "inferior" computer for years. In fact, one of my PC friends, while railing on Apple, was willing to pay me $50 for a tutorial on how to use iMovie to make some of the great vacation videos/animations that I have done. He was going to buy a Mac for his wife, because he could never figure out how to use MovieMaker 2.1.

'one of apple's worst' isn't my assessment. it was the consensus of advertising specialists and business executives around the world. numerous references to that effect online. as wikipedia noted "The Lemmings commercial was a large failure, and was widely seen as insulting to potential customers."

i thought macs networked through appletalk to laserwriters were the T... not everybody else agreed. apple approached 10-12% market share in the late '80s and early '90s, but lost share secondary to too much hubris (perhaps?).

still a big apple fan. they've always gotten my personal money for computing.

    Oh. OK. That makes sense.

I just meant I thought it was a cleverly done, well produced commercial.

If you look at some of the phone/electronic related forums it really is a religious war between the two groups. I have an iPhone4, with a case, no antenna issue. From my perspective I want the HTC and others to be the best they can be. It only increases the competition and raises the bar for everyone.

The battery on the EVO is replaceable, so you can have additional batteries at your disposal (something the iPhone does not).

fastprof saidHidden Costs: iPhone 16 GB (min). Evo 1 GB (you'll need to buy flash memory)

The HDD on the EVO is 1GB, but it comes with an 8GB microSD card which obviously allows for expandable memory capacity (something the iPhone does not).
