and made it hella annoying and hella irritating? Is it hella a hella Northern California word? And hella how was it hella started? I hella looked it up on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hella_%28word%29 and hella it actually hella stated

"Hella is a slang intensifier word associated with Northern California and the Pacific Northwest, and used in the United States and Canada. It is a contraction of the phrase "hell of a" or "hell of a lot [of]".

Hella I'm not sure if hella is worse than "like" though I'm hella looking forward to people using the ample amount of words our amazing hella vocabulary gives us ;-)

    I'm just hella saying

Yeah, it's from NorCal. I have a friend from Fremont, CA (near Berkeley, Oakland, etc.) that uses it.

I only know it's really annoying. I can say "hell of a" fairly quickly and it doesn't sound nearly as lame as "hella".

My Dad was guilty of a few. Sangwich and fingling, as in , "Stop fingling that sangwich." (actually fingling was pretty clever) icon_lol.gif

Hey remember the Valley girl lingo from Cal.?

'Like, last night was, like, a cranking bud sesh with lots of ders."

Translation: "Last night we smoked really good pot and had lots of oral sex."

"And he was all up in my business...and I was all GET OUT of my business...and he was all BUT your business is my business...and I was all MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!

"Hella" rolls off the tongue and is more versatile than that SoCal "grippa" BS. icon_rolleyes.gif

    ^^ (That's what he said)

Edit: I forget to mention the red-headed stepchild of "Hella" which is "Hecka"...the cleaner version I used to say when I was still God-fearing Christian boy

hey now don't hate on us norcalers. And for you "east coast" guys, it's equivalent to your new York and new jersey accents. Every region has their own dialect and slang. I know some well spoken and high vocabulary people and they say hella socially. I moved to socal for school and they have different slang and many from down here even say hella. All types of people say it.
