What can Nashville learn from Austin, or vice-versa?

America's two musical sister cities are dynamic, growing cities that are becoming more mainstream and cosmopolitan each year. They even have a suburb each, Round Rock for Austin and Murfreesboro for Nashville, that are top ten fastest growing over 100,000. However, one does have a leg up on the other that I can think of right away, Austin is a more progressive, welcoming city for gays and lesbians. Nashville is slowly, and I mean slowly evolving, having passed a anti-discrimination policy for the city government this year.

What things can either city learn from each other?

Hopefully Nashville can learn how to manage more than two gay clubs and one gay bar from Austin.

Austin can learn how to prepare for a flood!

Well, flash flood warnings through noon tomorrow in Austin. Why did you have to jinx us with this thread?

Lots of people from LA have been fleeing to Austin lately. I'm sure you've noticed an increase of Prius cars on the road out there. icon_lol.gif

I love Austin, and like that it doesn't have the racist traces from years ago. I think a lot of cities can learn from Austin's progressive attitude.

I don't think y'all have to worry about 14in of rain in two days, you'll be ok.

You're talking about gay issues? The blind leading the blind? Or perhaps the blindfolded... icon_rolleyes.gif

No, anything in general really, anything from gay issues to urban development and transportation.
