    Erm... I wouldn't say that's especially wierd.

Just someone who's probably too shy to come out and say, "you're quite cute and I'd like to get to know you"; so (paradoxically) he comes out with OTT statements like the above to make it seem like he's just a bit of a fool/joker.

Surprisingly normal behaviour for all humans, especially men, gay or straight. We are a funny bunch.

He clearly didn't anticipate your irony deficiency ... icon_rolleyes.gif

Mine is also chock full of hate mail from RJ members.

My theory is that you're one of those people who loves to be hated. I know others like you. It's why you keep coming back day after day, it's why you fan the flames with every post you make, it's why you so often point out how much people dislike you here. You're like the crazy fool who keeps jumping into the pool of sharks and then complains that he's always getting bit. It's comical.

Mine usually begin with "Can you unlock?" and I usually reply with a "No" followed by a quick click of the block button.

This. And....the other thing that comes to mind in his case is the word "dramaqueen."

I was kinda thinking that too actually icon_redface.gif

But the weirdest one I got (and it was probably a typo, or a guy didn't really know english well) was "who are you?" or something. I've almost sent him a very brief 500-word summary in which I tried to justify the fact that I couldn't answer this question at that moment, instead I just said "no f***** idea"...
Weirder was the fact that he actually wrote back and thanked me...

Nah.... I could care less what people on an internet chat forum think about me. And I would say anyone who does care about what people on a chat forum think about them are the ones who are nuts.

If what you mean is that you couldn't care less, then that is some seriously transparent bullshit, man! People here have your number better than you think they do.

Let me type it in words you can understand:

I do not care what people on here think about me.

Let me type it in plain English for you: BULLSHIT.

I have had the usual "I want to meet you and let you be my daddy..." weird messages. But apart from those, the RJ mail function has been great for me.

It's often led to taking the friendship initially offsite to conventional email and phone, and then to actually meeting people and then to offsite friendships.

Strangely, I think it's inappropriate to use RJ mail to send someone "you are an idiot" email. I think, again probably strangely for most people here, that it's better to do that on the Forum thread itself. At least there's a context for that in the Forum thread.

Sending a nasty RJ mail says that you think that you know the person on the basis of a virtual persona. In a way, it's almost too intimate. Especially since the people I am liable to say that to usually have absolutely no information on their profile for me to use as a basis for judgment.

I tempted to believe southbeach because I know I don't care what others think about me on here. They don't really know me and aren't part of my so why should I care. I'm willing to bet southbeach feels the same.

Maybe one or two people on here might hold his interest and might have a few words that he would take seriously but for the rest of us I doubt he cares what we say so I can see his response being pretty realistic. I know mine is. Besides this stuff is all talk anyway when you boil it down. The real test comes from actually meeting and then saying the BS that gets said on here in person.

I had a funny one the other day. This guy who lives in the same city as me, sent me a quick one liner asking how I was. Never met the guy before, but I responded that I was doing great.

That was the end of discussion.

Hahaha. Well maybe he was just curious how you were, and didn't want to start a conversation. icon_question.gif
