Just out of curiosity... I've seen that there are a number of guys who would go commando when they change into their gym clothes.

Do a lot of you guys do this as well?

If so, why? I mean the guys were wearing underwear with their normal clothes, but in their gym wear, they'd go commando... and some of them would run on the treadmill in this state as well! haha...

    opinions?

    Double ouch

I dont know why guys would do that..maybe they want to feel more free...but then why not just wear a jockstrap? ...others may just do it for attention...I go comando most of the time, but when working out, I always wear something under my shorts...

I go commando 'cause I don't want to sweat in my underwear and re-wear them after I shower. Don't like jockstraps either. I wear black sweats as to not attract attention to my junk.

Vordhosbn's comment.... thank you, that makes good sense to me. I was wondering myself, because the hottest and sexiest guy (I think anyway) at my gym does the same thing.

The first he stripped in front of me (and we happened to be the only two in the locker room), I noticed he only put on his shorts.

Hairy tummy and chest... and what a piece...

So it did make me wonder as well.

Most of the shorts that I wear actually have a liner in them...so, I wear those, and when I shower and change I can put back on my underwear.

Yeah, most of mine have liners. Mostly I use jocks with bicycle shorts, to keep everything safe and out of harm's way.

I meant OUCH as in - I can't imagine running on a treadmill w/o something to, how do you say, hold things in place. I mean all that bouncing - makes me hurt just thinking about it

I agree with all the OUCH statements as well.

I personally wear a SOCK jock, the strapless kind of jock. I have to keep everything in place as well and can't imagine not wearing it... Well... depends on the situation... WINK

LOL - yah, well I have to agree it does depend, but in this case specifically - all that jiggling and jarring - no way. I know a guy who literally liked having his balls pulled on - even liked being dragged around by them when in the pool! I heard that and was like, "Bro, if that were me I'd be on the freakin' ceiling!" I can handle light touches, but more than that - ya might get smacked. (not really, I'd prolly just howl like a banshee)

i never go commando doing anything active. don't want the frank and beans making a surprise appearance. also they need support or i won't be able to be intense. i'd just be worrying about them the whole time.

In checkin with a few Doctors I was told that when doing active things (working out, playing sports, riding a bycycle etc.)
you SHOULD have some kind of support even like the liner in shorts.
You may not feel bad now, but you are doing long term damage to your testicles. I have seen a few guys go commando playing volleyball as well or wearing loose boxers but most smarter and more athletic guys wear good underwear, or one of the many good support shorts like UnderArmour. When I play vball or work out I use shorts with built in supporters or UnderArmour like shorts.

I dont wear underwear under any clothing, always going commando. It just feel so much more free and is so much more comfortable then some tight material. The only time I wear underwear is under my work clothing.

I run 10 miles every other day. I always go comando. I don't understand the ouch comments. I guess from always wearing boxers I don't know what they are talking about.
I have never had any issues. I only wore a jock playing ball. It had a cup. I did not like it then and still don't. Nothing tight fitting, it just drives me crazy.
The thing I don't understand, is why would you want to keep it all pinned down and hot. I heard from a lot of different doctors that tight underwear is bad and makes you balls get to freaking hot. But to each his own. I just know you will never see me in a speedo..

Doesn't much matter to me, depends more on my mood. Things tend to bulge from freedom or from bunching regardless.

I'm not into squashing my package flat and there are too many exercises that are uncomfortable with my balls all strapped up. I am not a thundering lumbering giant on the treadmill so having my package bounce around isn't really uncomfortable.

Maybe I'm just used to being a bit free with my boys so free flying is normally comfy? I spend time at the nude beach, volleyball and ocean waves and all..

I don't mind someone catching a random glimpse, they are gonna stare anyway. Get used to it or go mental having a freakout moment every two minutes. Oh wait, I'm not a straight boy having homo issues in the closet.

    cheers,

I wear boxers during the day which offer more exposure than I want to provide in the gym (I'm not THAT intimate with my trainer). I wear compression shorts under my gym shorts -- Under Armor makes a great product which eliminates chaffing and really helps with the moisture down under....

Hey David, if you're not into squashing your junk flat, then what's with the main profile pic. Looks pretty squashed to me. LOL.

yeah i always go commando at the gym, too... i don't get the "ouch" comments either. guess we're all different. :)

but yeah, most good workout gear has a liner that makes underwear superflous, so maybe that's what is going on here. especially the running shorts i wear from adidas... they're light and require no cumbersome underwear.

to those who are always wearing tightie-whities... be careful! there is song evidence that this is no good for your junk! =]

I gave up underwear about 10 years ago and wear baggy cargo shorts at the gym.

I wear underwear, and I take a change of underwear with me. If I have on my nice undies I'll change them, if not, I'll wear what I have on from work. I can't go commando at my gym with all the hot guys, that would NOT be a good idea. I have a wandering eye, especially for muscles. LOL

I only once played volleyball in non-athletic underwear. My goodness I will never do such a thing again. I can barely imagine how painful that would have been commando.

Maybe if I wasn't doing any cardio...and was positive I wouldn't be lifting my legs above my head...and had no need to do a butterfly stretch at any point...I might consider it if I had a good reason. As it is, I wear a different pair of underwear at the gym than I wear for the rest of the day, but that's easy enough since I'm showering at the gym anyway.
