So, the first half of the year is gone and I was contemplating where I am with this year’s resolutions and goals and whether to stay the course or modify. I was also wondering how everyone else was doing. Mine for this year are pretty lengthy, but the resolution part is always ongoing for growth purposes. So, how are you doing with YOUR goals and/or resolutions for 2010 thus far?

    Ok, I will start:

Progress on the resolutions is pretty steady, moreso this year than in previous years. I do need to step up a little bit more with respect to putting myself out there more for my community and this issues that affect us. But this will most likely ebb and flow over time.

Progress on Operation New Day (this was within the list of goals for this year) is 95% complete. I have accomplished a lot in the short 6 month span of time, but have been derailed over the past month or so due to losing my job right before the Memorial Holiday. Still planning to start my Masters degree this year, but it depends on Pell Grant money or getting a job in time to start the fall semester.

Progress on the other 9 goals is pretty much derailed at the moment, but I still have time and Goal number 10 was voided because of its connection to the job. Income being non existent at the moment is the culprit. Goal number 2 was moving right along until the loss of the job. Goal number 6 was completed in May and paid off so the car is no longer an issue other than insurance. Goals 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9 are all connected on some level to money and they are sidelined because of lack of income. Goal number 3 could continue (haven’t finished February book yet), but my primary focus is on finding a job and saving the money I have for gas and food. Unemployment ran out, but there is hope on the horizon with a bit of irony. The company that first laid me off, then let me go now wants me back. It is a temp job and the money will be the same, but it won’t start in time to avoid getting assistance with rent for this month. The plan is secure permanent work while I work there and then move on with the rest of the goals for this year. I didn’t want to make this so long adding the resolutions and goals here. They are still on my profile if you want to see them.

    My ten things were:

    1. Go skiing and snowboarding, pick my favourite and learn how to do it…or at least learn how to fall over less.

    2. Gain a brown belt in Shorinji kempo

    3. Eat less meat - currently I eat meat everyday and I want to cut it down to 5 days a week at most.

    4. Speak to someone in Japanese everyday - maybe more difficult on the weekends but while in work I should use the opportunity to practice.

    5. Set up my post office account so that direct debits are taken out - reducing the amount of times I need to visit a combini to pay my bills.

    6. Set up an account to send money back to the UK.

    7. Tell the people I love that I love them more often - I do this anyway but feel a little exposed when I do it, I need to get over that.

    8. Set aside at least 20,000 yen a month for emergencies and blow-outs such as Xmas when I visit home.

    9. Create a weekly planner folder - That way I will have something to refer to rather than forgetting things I was meant to do only to remember them as I climb into bed. This should help me to become more organized.

    10. Set up a Google calender and a Gmail account - could also add to my being more organized.

    Results are:

    1. Done - Although I didn't love it as much as i thought I would.
    2. Exam is this month.
    3. Kinda done - I'm eating less meat but I could do better.
    4. Done! - Since going to Shorinji practice more this has been achieved.
    5. ...ugh I forgot about this one.
    6. Done!
    7. N/A
    8. Done
    9. Fail
    10. Started but failed to keep going.

So I'm doing alright, some of them are ongoing so can't really be "done" as much as "doing". I'm happy with my progress though.

Unfortunately, I have NOT met my New Year's Goal yet.

"What is your goal?", you may ask?

I wanted to try having full-on penetrative sex with a woman. Yep. That's right. A woman. icon_twisted.gif

I figured that all my straight friends are raving about it and I'm hearing so much about this whole "protect the sanctity of marriage" crap (which is kind of an indirect statement demanding for the upholding of hetero sex), I decided that I would undertake this year to attempt to find a woman who will go easy with me and let me have sex with her.

    So far?

    Nada.

The year's only 50% through, though, so I still have time!

My resolution was to quit my job and get a better one. I quit my job but my "better" job fell through as my soon-to-be employer decided to stop working and instead go to circuit parties. Now I just hate everything and everyone in general. But especially LA.

    You should move here.

I don't remember what my resolutions were
