I saw them as original broadcasts, and it would be like trying to pick your favorite child. The wine pressing vat in Italy? Vitameatavegamin? The chocolate conveyor belt? Her nose on fire?

An interesting note for me: Lucille Ball was NOT a natural comedienne. Not in the sense that she did stand-up comedy routines, or was inherently a spontaneously funny person in real life, the way an Ellen DeGeneres is.

What she COULD do was act, and even the legendary Orson Welles called her one of the best actresses he knew. Stories are related of how she would go into the weekly script readings for I Love Lucy, and she would miss all the comedy elements. And the writers, and the director, and her much-underrated producer/husband Desi would walk her through the lines, telling her where the laughs were.

And yet by the time of the weekly show a few days later, she had created classic comedy moments that we are still talking about, over 50 years later. Now THAT is talent, and that is acting.

A coincidence considering I'm watch "I Love Lucy" now on DVD (currently viewing "Fan Magazine Interview").

My favorite would have to be the episode where the women's club puts on a musical and the set gets taken away during the performance.

My fav was when Lucy had to tell the truth and nothing but the truth all day. The bridge game was very, very funny.

There are more Lucy episodes that I love than you can shake a stick at. Favorite moments are too many to count. When she gets locked in the freezer they got from Ethyl's uncle and ordered an entire cow, when she thinks Ricky is trying to kill her (first season), when she tells Ricky she's having a baby, when they go to The Brown Derby in Hollywood to meet the stars, when the ladies get jobs (the chocolate episode)... the list is never ending.

My favorite will always be Vitameatavegamin. But not 'just' for the commercial part. So many people overlook how hilarious she is at the end of the episode when Ricky is trying to sing, and she stumbles in front of the camera singing in Spanish. It's a riot!! icon_biggrin.gif

The one where she overhears Don Loper in his studio that one of the actresses is unable to attend the fashion show and she gives a wonderful pretense and then at the end when she accepts to do the show....she stumbles on some stairs....and later she gets too much California sun that she's almost unable to do the catwalkicon_biggrin.gif

Omg it's nearly impossible for me to pick just one.. But I would have to say that the one that makes me laugh the most, EVERY TIME I SEE IT, is Vitameatavegemin! I have an audio clip of it from years ago that I found online and I still have it. Makes me laugh every time :-P

I was a strange kid growing up I think lol... back when I Love Lucy and Bewitched were on Nick at Nite, I used to have my VCR set to record it every night at that time. What was great was they were on one after the other so it was basically just one hour of recording, then done for the day. But I have so many episodes (and 90's commercials, LMAO) on tape that I have seen so many times, I know all the words to every one of them. Those two shows were my favorite things to watch on tv, I pretty much hated everything else on tv.

I'd have to pick the Vitameatavegemin episdoe as my fav. But there are sooo many more....like practicing doing the Tango when Lucy is trying to hide all the eggs in her shirt. Or the Hollywood episodes when she's trying to disguise herself from William Holden hahahahaha. So great. I'm glad I have them all on DVD

My absolute favorite was this episode. Not the funniest by far, but I fell in love with how absolutely sweet it was. Still makes me tear up a little.icon_wink.gif
