This thread is 'all things gay' and this is certainly GAY.

Any geeks know anything about bypassing the blockage? They've also blocked Youtube but I can bypass that with a proxy. I can get onto facebook using a proxy BUT as I need to verify my password (cos I'm abroad) the CAPTCHA thing won't load properly! All I need to do is be able to see the CAPTCHA password and I'm good to go. Any suggestions?

    Please...this is the most annoying.

YEah apparently it's 'no good to chinese people'. But the Beijing people just illegally go onto it anyway.

No, still same problem. I can get onto Facebook just fine. But when I need to verify the CAPTCHA the image won't load so I can't see it. How can I see the CAPTCHA?

I have to go thru the verification only cos I'm abroad. Would it have anyting to do with Java scripts? Sometimes it says it's been disabled but when I turn it on still nothing happens. I'm not sure if I'm doing it right.

Have a look at Witopia as a longer term more viable solution:
http://www.witopia.net/ - the costs aren't unreasonable. I would however recommend the SSL/PPTP combo at a cost of $70 bucks/year as I find that the SSL connection is required to consistently download my emails off of foreign POP servers.

I actually find sometimes my net in China is faster with it than without as well as it leaps over the wall creating a VPN.

And yeah, you can pretty much watch anything except Hulu from China with Witopia which is really quite nice. Witopia is what I use while travelling and while through the middle east it was quite nice as well. Witopia will make whatever website you go to appear as if you are from HK, UK or the US depending on the options you set.

Get a VPN (virtual private network).

Or have a friend at home verify your email for you.

Your thread makes it sound like this blockage business is news. Facebook, youtube, Twitter, most blogs, etc have all been blocked here for over a year. icon_rolleyes.gif

Agree with Bunjamon. We have a VPN and it works great for accessing Facebook and Youtube. The one we use is:

    http://www.reliablehosting.com/

Our plan is 55 USD per year. The speed is good.
