Maybe I'm just a little bit homesick...

...but I heard this song on the radio and found the song really touching. I wish I could relate to having been born in the same house since I was born but we moved twice after I was born. The house where I did most of my growing up my dad and I built the deck in the backyard over the course of a few summers. I drove by that house not too long ago and they cut down all of the trees and removed the deck. I know it's the people and not the physical structure that makes a house a home, but no doubt that having a place to call home holds close to every person.

That was quite pretty. I usually associate her with being all spunky because of Famous in a Small Town, but she can be really tender. Thanks for posting.

Meh, I'm a little jaded by country music and my upbringing. Every time I hear a country song, or think of the house I was born and raised in (mom still lives there), all I can think of is the bigotry I endured growing up in a rural area just outside a small town. Mom knows this, and understands that I'll never be back (instead, she visits me).

I've found my "home" in a big city with positive-sounding music...and less bigotry. icon_biggrin.gif

I love this song. It reminds me of the multiple times i've moved away only to come back home to familiar surroundings in my parents home of 30+ years.

I also like "I pray for you" by Jaron. Reminds me of a couple bad break ups i've had.

I really want to go back to see the farm where I grew up. The house burned down when I was 13, but, in my mind, I can still see all 21 rooms, and the huge maple tree in the front yard, that we used to tap, every Spring, and the barns, and the milk house, and the creek, and the pond.

There was also a one room school house on our property. I heard that it had been torn down and somebody built a vacation cabin there. And, I heard that one of the barns had fallen in. It would probably be sad to see.

Thanks guys. It really means a lot to hear your comments.

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) change in life is constant. I guess it's best to take with you the memories from the past and as long as you remember and learn from them they'll always be with you.

Not depressed or down; I'm just feeling nostalgic about how fleeting life can be and how quickly time flies...
