if you use clippers... makes sure your balls are snug (maybe w cold water) that way you dont make any cuts with the clippers. that seems to work.. oh and use a moisturizer afterwards if needed. icon_biggrin.gif

Have you ever considered waxing? I get mine waxed periodically and it's way better than shaving. Just kinda hurts the first time.

paulflexes saidI trim mine with clippers, just like the rest of my body. It's a lot less painful when you're sweaty.

PS. Also, using conditioner on the trimmed hair keeps it soft instead of prickly.

I use clippers too, with the lowest guard. Works like a charm icon_smile.gif

I use a razor, but you might want to look into the Norelco Body Shaver. It's designed specifically for one's "pink parts" and can be used wet or dry. According to Norelco (and most of the reviewers), it eliminates the nicking that you have with other electric trimmers.

A new rasor blade usually does the trick!

Of course nothing beats having a buddy or two over for some tea and asking their opinion on techniques. Field testing is also a good idea.

Swimmy, darling, do come over this weekend for some tea and shaving. It will be grand!

cold saidI find giving them a really good trim with scissors works great. It's smooth, but leaves just enough hair to remind me I'm not 12 years old. Try it, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I was circumcised at 5 years old. I'm a bit sensitive to having a pair of scissors near my genitals. Maybe that's just me.

I have that very same Norelco. I have been using it to trim my legs, chest, stomach and face.

It was the best $35 I ever spent. Just remember to buy a replacement blade every six months. I did not know that until my first blade broke down. But I was able to get nearly thirteen months out of it.

The other alternative I find is to use a razor that is not fresh. For example, when I used to shave my face with a razor I would use it a two or three times for my face and then shave my legs and balls with it. The blade was dull enough to not cause me ingrown hairs. In my case, I hypothesized that the brand new blade was too sharp and gave me bumps, ingrown hairs and cuts. Ouch!

This is exactly what I'm using at present, a Norelco Bodygroom.

Another option is a woman's razor, such as a Gillette Venus model. I would never shave my balls with a man's razor, meant for the face. If you're doing that it's no wonder your skin is irritated.

The correct drill is to get a woman's razor, and take a warm bubble bath. Then you do the shaving in the water. Apply shaving cream if needed; just stand up. Soaking in the warm water softens the hairs and reduces nicks.

But I find the Bodygroom easier, and it can be used in the shower. Just a bigger initial investment.

Yep, works great on just about any part of the body, but I do change the blade every 3 months or so. It makes a big difference to me. I buy 'em online cheap.

Norelco actually has a funny commercial advertising the trimmer for use "down there."

I usually shave my balls using a thick lather and during shower. That makes hair really smooth and easy to shave. Then after shaving use Vitamin E oil, that helps sooth the skin. You can use it for next few days after shower to keep skin smooth and easy.

I use a (cheap) single-blade first while they are dry (well, as dry as they ever are); i wet with water (lots of water) and then take a double-blade to them. And I take my time with it; I don't want nicks down there! Once I'm done, I immediately put a paper towel to them to soak up as much wet as possible, then lotion them up. I use an alcohol-free version and strongly recommend you not use one with alcohol. Then I refrain from getting dressed and let the lotion air-dry; it's almost dry in about 5 min but I let them go for 10. Then pure cornstarch and dress. It's more high-maintenance than I wish it was, but they're my boys, and they're worth the extra time. Also, it took me about a year of trial and error before I finally got it down right for me but this has served me well for a decade, so maybe this will give you a head start. Let me know how it works! (Even better, for all of us on this forum, post before and after pics! icon_smile.gif

Webster666 saidI'm wondering if you are applying anything (such as shaving cream) before you shave, that might be what's causing the irritation. Or, are you applying anything after shaving ?

I shave mine, using nothing (but the razor) before and after shaving, with no problems.
Nothing at all? I did try the conditioner way as they suggested. Thats the only way I ever did it. Are you even using water?

No, nothing at all, before or after shaving.
Try it and see if that cures your irritation problem.

You could not make this thread up if you tried.

Just don't shave! One of the biggest pluses to being gay is not having to deal with the delicate eww-shave-it-ness from women. I can't believe you guys even go near your nuts with anything that can draw blood.

    F. That.

I second this. I own the Norelco Body Groom and it is fantastic. Don't recall ever having a problem with nicks or anything like that.
