Your post and link are pretty thin so, what is the problem?

It is a gay GOP group marching on Washington. What does this have to do with MLK?

Ooh, the circus is coming to town on August 28th. Too bad I'll be at Atlantic City. But the clowns are coming back to DC on September 12th, right?

I will never understand gay Republicans. As I say " A gay person voting for a republican is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.."

The Lincoln Memorial, August 28th 1963, this is the day Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous "I Have A Dream" speech.

The fact that this jerk thinks he could ever compare to someone like MLK is absolutely absurd.

i agree and disagree - i remember hearing something about this on npr. it's purposefully being doing on 8/28 to try to unite the teabagger TO mlk (as in, to "celebrate" their "civil rights struggle," but they're rather missing the mark).

Nope...but if you're gay, you're not supposed to vote for people who would rather you didn't exist.

Another predictable rehash of the same tiresome argument that reappears here almost daily.

Yes, you CAN be Republican and gay.

Yes, you CAN participate in a political rally because you support the overall goal of the event, even if you happen to disagree with some of the other positions of those leading it.

Here's an example from the "liberal" or "leftist" side. During the Bush administration, I participated in several peace marches to protest the war on Iraq. This despite the fact that nearly all of the major protest events were organized (monopolized, really) by International ANSWER, an organization with a number of positions with which I strongly disagree, such as their position on Israel. But the overall purpose of the protests was to stop the war, and that is why I was there.

So even though I am a "liberal", it is not difficult for me to imagine a "conservative" being in the same position: wanting to support the Tea Party's overall goal of.... um....

(Eliminate all taxes and dismantle the government? Nuke everyone who looks at us funny? Exile Obama to Kenya? Declare aerial wolf gunning the new national pastime?)

.... of whatever their goal is, WITHOUT agreeing with the whole anti-gay thing. That's my point. Yeah.

Can we please stop wasting more bandwidth on the same old knee-jerk reactions and pointless flame wars?

(And could someone tell me what these Tea Party folks actually want?)

Yeah, but for some reason the white, poor, bathtub-meth-lab, trailer trash always side with the rich white guy who is doing more to keep them down than "them thar negroes, homosekshuals, oriiiiientuls and libertated women folk".

Oh I get it. Sarah Palin is pulling the race card since pulling the female card didn't work in 2008. Anyway, she really doesn't deserve to be there. She's using MLK to take more black votes away from Obama.

What I don't understand is first of all Martin Luther King JR. was a registered Republican. And preached that every man (&woman) should stand up for themselves and NOT live off of the MAN. In fact MLK was a huge conservative. Secondly the Democratic party is the party of Jim Crow Laws.....LOOK IT UP and stop being led around by your er noses.
Neither party is right, they are both F&^%ED up! They are using us to fight amongst ourselves to grab more power and money for their elite friends. In some circles they call it divide and conquer. I feel like we are all just a bunch of Lemmie 's at either parties disposal and agenda. When we agree to disagree and actually move forward as a whole, the politicians will be very very scared of us.
