She killed it! I think she fully deserves every award she has won. Her album is a modern day masterpiece.

Sorry Im not Mr. Technology for not linking a video of her performance, but it was amazing!

Did you guys see the look on her face when she won for Best New Female Artist Of The Year? Like a deer caught in the headlights!!

In a deep voice, she says into the mike, "Thank You."

    Absolutely timeless. Don't you agree?

And once you think about it, her style is vintage...more like Dionne Warwick in her heyday, or, whenever that was. M. J. Blige & Amy Winehouse need to do a collabo together.

Did you know that whenever she goes to see her hubby, they have to check that hair for contraband? I mean you could hide an army in that s&^%!

the best part of the performance for me was that she actually SANG and still sounds amazing. so she is not a studio created talent! nothing worse than the live version sounds not nearly as good as the recorded one!!!

Below is the video of her performance.

I thought her performance was incredible. She improvised somewhat -- something NOBODY in pop music does -- and I liked her moves. They were as eccentric as her voice.

I'm so happy she got it. I thought she might joke about "rehab" while singing it.

That is a great cd. I hope she can recover and continue to put out quality work and find some inner happiness. Speaking of live singing, I was disappointed in Rihanna...Umbrella is a fun song and she sounds good on the cd, but was not impressed with the live version of her vocals.
    GO AMY!

My favorite part was her acceptance speech where she thanked her boyfriend, "my Blake...incarcerated". I have never seen her perform live but she looked like she was pretty damn shaky. Hope she uses this as motivation to clean up her life.

I miss the days back in the '80s when Brits dominated the American Top 40. I hope this is a Renaissance for Brit pop aka sophistipop, it's gonna be fucken fabulous!!! xx

Wasn't impressed by her at all. She's the talk of the town in LA today and I don't get it. There is nothing phenominal about her voice. It's the whole trash and shock value that gave her the fame. Sounds a little like Joss Stone so can't call that voice unique. Then she goes and cracks out in front of the public. You would think the industry has some standards and would refuse to reward her with their highest trophy and hold her to a standard of class. So many people want to make it and she gets the opportunity and then screws with it. Oh well, the grammys have become a joke. Last years Dixie Chicks thing was the staple of how stupid they've become. The worst moments last night were recognizing a crack addict alcoholic but the best moment was Kayne West going down in defeat. Vince Gill nailed his ass.

I have the Back to Black cd and enjoy it because it's different than anything else on the radio. I had never seen a live performance from her, so I didn't know what to expect. I think maybe she was nervous??? The Dixie Chicks thing last year was just a big "F" you to Nashville. The cd was good, but not as good as some of their other work. Not sure really why on an awards show celebrating the past year in music they had Tina Turner on there doing old stuff. Fun to see her, yes, but this was supposed to be recognizing songs/albums from 2007.

She's my favorite singer .. I like " you know that I'm no good" , "back to black" .. she's awsome .. her weird style , look, accent.. everything

But isn't her style is more like Jazz than pop?

I think a more validating win for her was Song Of the Year. The award is given to the writers, and Rehab won, which Amy Winehouse wrote!

Back to Black is a great song. Almost has an old motown feel to it, with current lyrics and fresh vocals. It's just nice when someone puts out a cd different from everything else out there.

I totally have to disagree that her voice is not anything special. With so much attention being paid to mediocre pop, we should validate true artists out there. Regardless of her cracked out ways. I mean she is a rock star. We don't discount other musical legends of the past for their drug use. Her's just happens to be public.

I will say her frame, hair and facial expressions are hard to watch. But close your eyes and listen to music that is fresh, original and pushing the envelope. I think she soulnd like Shirley Bassy. Not bad for a white girl.

Yes! I've said she sounds like Shirley too and everyone tells me I'm nuts.

And ditto about her personal life. Billie Holiday, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain didn't have to confront a camera every time they walked out a door. Her fame is so tied up in her misery thanks to the UK's tabloid press, she must at some level wonder if she'll remain popular if she cleans up her act.

I have no problem with her cosmetic and gestural style. I wouldn't be surprised if she hasn't studied in London with the Roy Hart people, who actually teach using the body and voice in intentionally "odd" ways. The result, contrary to what you expect, is usually very captivating.

    She's got it all....

    The Voice

    the Look

    The boozing...druggy attitude

Yup...she's channeling Billie and Janis and all the bad girls of music that came before her

    I think she's great

I love the house remix of "Tears dry on their own". If Whitney can make it thru rehab and come back looking GORGEOUS, Then Amy can too. That may explain the (come on you know it) MESS that she looks!!!!

I have a sneaky feeling that the whole druggy/rehab thing is part of the act. I have seen her go from "drugged out whore" to "sensible coherant artist" in seconds during interviews.
