I always look at the ingredients of a product before I buy it. I know of a few things to watch out for, but there are a lot of weird ingredients that I have no idea what they are. I try to stay away from refined and processed ingredients as much as possible.

What do you watch out for when you buy food products or personal health care productsicon_question.gif

If this thread has already been covered, can you point me in the right direction?

Does anyone know of a good list of things to avoid that I can find onlineicon_question.gif

The ingredient list can be really confusing. There is a fifty word chemical name that ends up just being a form of vitamin-E.

Here is a pretty good list of what is safe and what is not.

Personally though I like Michael Pollan's advice of "Buy foods your great Grandmother would buy".

High Fructose Corn Syrup... and anything hydrogenated

If I find it on the list... I usually get some disgusted look from an employee - because I usually drop the product on the ground.

Dang! That list makes you afraid to eat most foods out of the supermarket... Very educational.
