Oh, now that is WAY too open-ended to even attempt an answer. You need to define normal for me and you really need to define function (or what level you are referring to.) I think that most people here likely function well enough to get by. Wake up, go to work, hang out with friends, head to the gym, crash in front of the television (or not if you have insomnia...) What level must I function at to consider myself “normal” (something neither I nor those who know me will ever accuse me of being...)

Most people who I meet have some issues that hold them back. I tend to think that my issues sometimes help me... I am not the one getting married to a woman I have known for 8 months, is a manic depressive, refuses medication and drinks (that hounour goes to a friend of mine.) My issues may limit who I am compatible with (those with MORE issues than me need not apply) but I still function better than most people I know. While areas of my life may lack I will continue to take solace in the fact that I am single and not in a doomed relationship.

There are very few issues that would impede your ability to function "normally" in life. Normal is dating somebody who is wrong for you, marrying anyhow, having kids, becoming a depressed alcoholic, divorcing and loosing everything before declaring bankruptcy. Working at a job that you hate to support your lifestyle and to pay $50 000 for your second wedding (see how much I care? Just look at what I spent) then dying alone and miserable. That is how many people with fewer issues than I have function- still want to be "normal?"

I am sorry- I know what you are asking- but look at the miserable lives of the "normal" people around you.

In case your worried I am not offended... of course, I am also not mentally sane...icon_lol.gif

    Normal is overrated.

"Normal" is basically whatever the majority of people are.
If the majority of people have mental challenges, then mentally challenged people are normal...thus, most RJ people are normal, and those with no mental challenges are weird and abnormal.

I am not without my issues, but I seem to function fine for the most part. I have also met a dozen or two Realjocker's in person and almost all of them seem to be mentally stable and healthy.

No such thing as normal. We all have quirks, issues, etc. The thing is that some of us fall farther from the center of the bell curve in terms of our behavior.

    Oh sweety....didn't you know?
EVERYONE needs some "couch time"......we are all functionally "damaged"...I think that is what makes us all "NORMAL"....life experience gives us ALL "baggage"...
Maturing and using that "baggage" as a "teacher" or as a "skill" or in some positive way is the best way to cope with the damage of the baggage......RJ guys are no better, worse, nor immune...we are, for the most part, normal....
so go take your PROZAC, get to the gym and have a fat free, double shot, mocha latte, protein shake with your latest hook up, as you both go shopping for new matching china, drapes and towels....LOL!!!icon_eek.gif...(OK I am sort of sarcastic and skeptical)....one of my "Coping" mechanisms....

I heard somewhere that one out of four have some sort of a mental illness, so think about your three closest friends. If it's not them...it's you.
