So I'm trying to lose some weight and so first step is to start eating more healthily. So what should I eat to start off my day? How much of it should I eat? Do you eat before or after working out in the morning?

Currently: 6 boiled eggs wrapped in 8 slices of ham and turkey sandwich meat, one or two bananas (two if I'm gonna workout), one apple, one serving a grapes, one serving of strawberries, and a fuckload of milk and sugar with a splash of really strong Colombian coffee...and about a liter or two of water...and sometimes some orange juice (never from concentrate), but not often.

That will change in a few days, though. I only keep a consistent "diet" for a few days, then change to something else. Monotony sucks baws.

This is an example from this morning.

Note no fried potatoes, and the fresh fruit in lieu of hash browns. Yes, I drink OJ. And yes, I ate butter on my sourdough toast.

Right now, I've been eating a serving of oatmeal with a banana sliced in when cooking it. I'll also usually eat 2 hard boiled eggs and a serving of some other fruit, usually blueberries or strawberries, all with 2 large glasses of water... It's a very satisfying breakfast that will give you good energy, and you'll avoid eating cereals (which have refined grains), which is a great way to lose fat. Also a good way to get a lot of your carbs in, and as the day progresses, I'll eat fewer carbs.

Just for that I should toss you naked into the shower for a thorough scrub down. Administered by yours truly, of course.

Ah man, breakfast; I am the least hungry when I freshly wake up, in fact I find food revolting to eat at that time of the day. It takes me a couple of hours for my appetite to get up to speed. However, I know the importance of it so I just suck it up and eat eat eat! Eat as much as I can.

I don't have a typical breakfast, it is usually my weight gainer shake, cooked egg whites with my choice of veggies already mixed in, a banana, and some sort of kashi cereal high in fiber and protein, oh and a glass of milk. Not set in stone, all of the above I typically shake up with just whatever I have in the kitchen. Oh, and I love oatmeal.

If I'm on the run due to some obscure reason, the weight gainer shake is a life saver. Of course you are trying to lose some weight, so I wouldn't recommend one, they are loaded in calories for a purpose.

Here's a snapshot of my breakfast table:

    2a8fbpw.jpg

A glass of water and about a half cup of steel cut oatmeal with a half dozen hard boiled egg whites, almonds, and a couple tablespoons of flaxseed or flax meal and/or chia seeds, and to really treat myself raisins, fresh fruit and/or honey. To mix it up I'll substitute amaranth or quinoa for the oatmeal a couple times a week.

Aw, screw it. I really eat cold pop tarts out of the box with a diet pepsi in a paper cup. icon_wink.gif

When I go on a cruise, my favorite meal is breakfast. My fellow cruisers often are aghast at much I can consume in that one meal:

-- scrambled egg whites with fresh lox, onions, tomatoes, and capers
-- a bowl of hot oatmeal
-- several bowls of cottage cheese and/or plain yogurt
-- fresh fruit (cantaloupe, watermelon, grapefruit)
    -- fresh coffee
-- whole grain rolls or toast

Lots of food, but all healthful. My own personal spread that takes up a majority of the table.

Of course, by the time they've just rolled out of bed, I will already have run 100 laps around the tiny track on the top deck and worked up a sweaty hunger.

Where do you guys get the time to prep all this. I get up at 6 and am out the door by 6.30. Usually get a muffin with my coffee icon_sad.gif And yeah, that's why I don't loose weight!

I mix it up, sometimes make an egg-white sandwich on whole-grain english muffin with turkey bacon or some variation of that, sometimes oatmeal (never the instant stuff), fruit, sometimes a smoothie with greek yogurt and frozen fruit and protein powder.

    Oh and always coffee.
