In light of my birthday: Your worst birthday

Since today is my birthday and I'm not having such a wonderful time, does anyone else have any horrible birthday stories, whether your own or someone elses?

Today, I woke up, went to pee, flushed the toilet and got a geyser of sewer sludge shooting up the drain of the bathtub. Waiting for a plumber now. Thankfully, the building is charging it to the association (because it's my birthday?)

Last year, I had a very large birthday party that was busted up by some jerks that I can't get into without spilling a ton of T. One of our RJers was at it, if he sees this he can explain if he wants.

When I was six, I got Nerf guns and one of the neighbours who was mean to me came over and I told him he had to go away. I got sent to my room (for 15 minutes, seems like an eternity) and the little asshole played with my birthday presents with all of my other friends.

    Anyone else?

I had always thought my 21st birthday would be a biggie. The moment when I could vote (back then under US law), the moment I had full legal & citizenship rights, a real adult at last.

Instead I was all alone at Ft. Benning, Georgia, in a bleak Army enlisted barracks. Recently arrived, no friends, no party to celebrate, no nothing. So it just came & went, and that was it. Not even a word from my family. I thought that kinda sucked. icon_sad.gif

I'm obviously empathetic if the OP had a bad birthday. They do happen...

I lost my job 3 weeks before my 21st birthday...and all my friend were also broke losers.
Guess who didn't get to celebrate being "legal" by getting wasted?

Last November when I turned 39, I had a nice party planned with about 10-15 people. Every single one had to work early, including me, so the whole thing got scrapped at the last minute.

This year I ain't planning shit. I'll just call over a buddy and have some muscle-sex. icon_lol.gif

Sorry to hear about your 21st, Wilton. I didn't do anything on my 21st birthday either. I was alone most of the day in my college dorm room studying for two mid-terms the next day. I was new at the college and hardly knew anyone beside my roommate, whom I was only just getting to know, so we weren't yet sharing birthdays and all that. I didn't get any calls or texts, thoughI think I got a couple Facebook messages. Looking back, I wonder if I had missed an opportunity, but it just seemed like such an ordinary day.

I'd have to say that my worst b-day was when we went to Magic Springs in Arkansas for the day.

...I don't think I've had a bad birthday before. Hmm

When I turned 24, my buddy-housemate decided to throw a surprise party and invited everyone I knew, many of whom were in healthcare.

The day before he turned a bright yellow. It was Hep.He didn't cancel! When I got home from work on the big day, he told me (from his bed) a surprise party was about to happen in a hour!

I spent the evening telling people not to come in, and if they did, to go get a gamma-globulin shot the next day. Ugh.

    -Doug

PS and yes, he made all the food himself that same day. Yeesh.

I can't think of any bad birthdays. I am thankful for each one I get. I hope you manage to have a wonderful one sorry others have been so bad. You are alive and healthy; you have a lot of friends here at RJ. You have food and water. The sewage thing sucks but things could be a lot worse.icon_smile.gif

Not sure if this would be considered the worst birthday ever, after reading all these other stories, but I was so pissed at my friends around the time I was turning 20 that I sent un-invitations to everybody. I did not have a party, but felt better...

I probably should make up for it by sending invitations to my next un-birthday party, which is today!!! ;-)

In any case, happy birthday to you, "shit happens" - quite literally - and I'm glad for you that it turned positive later on.

    Happy Birthday Man!

Worst (at the time) was my 21st. Spent in Detox. As it turned out - it was my best birthday. First day of sobriety and what I now call my re-birthday.

Being born on the 5th, my family and friends always found it convenient to celebrate my birthday on the 4th of July holiday. That irked me until more recent years.

The worst birthday was when I was about 13 years old. My parents had been separated for many years, and we lived with my father and his parents. On the 4th of July, my mother came to take my 2 sisters to stay with her for a couple of weeks. The thing was, she hadn't told my father.

As they drove away, my father asked me where they were going. When, I told him, he jumped into his car and sped after them. He passed them, then blocked their path, so that they had to stop. I don't know what else happened, but my father came back home alone.

Then, I got word that my sisters were not coming back, but were going to stay with my mother, so I didn't see them for a couple of years. I was extremely close to one of my sisters, so that hurt.

My worst birthday was actually 6 days ago when I turned 31... I had been going through rough times for a month or so already, couldn't get my life in order, so I really didnt want to celebrate anything, thinking I shouldnt be turning 31 and having my life going nowhere lol... I went to a club with my sister just before my birthday, her birthday is the day before, I started geting a headache, and the moment the clock struck 12 and everyone wished me a happy b-day, I left to go straight home.... I went to sleep that day, didnt hear anything from my friends on the island all day, this in stark contrast to the former parties where hundreds of people would show up at my door spontaneously... Most of my family had left the island, so I just had cake with my sister, her kids, my other sibs, my mom and my grandparents.... All in all I was having a depressing day and didnt start feeling better till my mom, sibs, aunt and uncle took me out to our regular wednesday hang-out, where three girl singers I play piano for sang me happy birthday in the most beautiful, soulful, bluesy rendition I had ever gotten, minutes before my birthday ended, and that one-minute song was the highlight of my day lol

Well my birthday is coming right up and looking forward to it, should be a fun day overall.

Most of my birthdays of late have been busy affairs with work, I always try and take a few minutes (and in some cases more) to do something special. A tall order if it's in the middle of the week and clients are in demand.

My best recent birthday was my 35th, which I spent at the top of the CN Tower in Toronto. I'll never forget it, it was awesome!

Most of mine when I was growing up were really great. I'm going to post a pic on FB of my 16th birthday, It was off to a swimming celebration at a
"sandpit" with several friends. It had converted to a swimming destination before I was born. I spent several summers there as a toddler and on that 16th birthday, it was sort of a special "revisit"..... one of the best.

My worst was in 2004. My father had been very ill at the time and his then girlfriend didn't even bother to remind him it was my birthday. He was under medication and was clueless. I was more worried about him, but it was a very lonely birthday.... with my bf 100 miles away.

Best wishes for a great birthday today! I'd like to hear about your best birthday and not just focus on your worst.... I hope it turns MUCH better by days end!

my 38th! I went to CT to spend it with the guy I was dating at the time. We were supposed to be going to NYC. But it was raining so he just wanted to stay home because one of his head lamps had a crack and he was afraid the damn thing would burn out on the road. So i spent close to 500.00 just to sit in his house, what a waste of cash and a shitty ass birthday.
Anyone that knows this is my 40th and will be shitty too. I doubt anyone has made plans so I will just stay home again like a single bacheloricon_sad.gif
