I've never watched Torchwood, but I have seen Jack on Dr. Who. I think it's a spinoff of that. I had no idea that Jack was gay until I saw a blog about it on gay.com. I'll have to check it out.

YOu know something, I used to before I moved, then because of lack of cable, I fell out of the series! I used to love it too. I think I watched the 1st 6-10 episodes. My favorite one was with the "Philotytes" alien women with the pendant that can read people's minds.

Then the sexual tension between Owen & Gwen was nice to watch...lol. OMG! I so didn't know that Captain Jack wasn't straight!?

I watch this show every week. I really like it. I like the character interaction and the story lines. It's very cool.

I watch it on BBC America. I screamed a bit like a little girl when Ianto and Jack jumped into a liplock on the latest episode! And the episode where Jack meets his namesake was some of the best sexual tension I've ever seen.
But the pan-sexuality is a little over the top. I mean, I'm convinced they're going to end up in an orgy by the end of this season. Every character's had a gay experience built in to this point now. Not that there's anything wrong with that. icon_cool.gif

Yes, I watch it. That scene in particular made me bawl my geeky gay eyes out.

(I love how the scene builds to a moment where they almost kiss, where American tv would have stopped the scene to save viewers, then has Jack go back to plant one. Just part of my ongoing argument of why British tv is better than ours.)

I just watched the last episode last night and...
    wow
I can't wait for the next season.
Scripts and characters are really good.
And my favourite is of course, Mr. Suit (Yanto... is it spelled like that?).

I watch it every week. Started off as a Doctor Who fan and now enjoy Torchwood. The pan-sexuality of Jack's character is because he's not human. His species flirts (and mates) with anyone and everyone. Sorry to spoil that for anyone who didn't already know, but that was explained and shown in season 1 of Doctor Who. Speaking of which, I hope BBC America has season 4 of Doctor Who in production. The season on air now was on SciFi channel in its entirety last year.

It's probably worth noting for non-Brits that the creator of Torchwood, Russel T Davies, is also the creator of Queer as Folk (the original version broadcast on Channel 4 Television) and has a long career of interesting writing for television, particularly for children's television.

John Barrowman is hot, but his acting does leave a little something to be desired, eh? ;-)

I was listening to the radio whlie I was watching the clip and Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" came on. Perfect background music for that clip - too wierd! Now I'll have to watch Torchwood!

Got to love Capn Jack, saw him last year at London Pride and waived and nearly died when he waived back, he was just standing in the crown with his hubbie watching the parade, that is until the gay Rugby team paraded past and whisked him off.

John Barrowman really is so down to earth

I must be dense thos and iddnt realised until this week that Torchwood is actually an anagram of Doctor Who!

I just put season one in my netflix queue. I love the episode with James Marsters from Buffy who kept wanting to alternately kill Jack or make out with him.

Frankly, I never like Dr. who. but Torchwood is so much better. The story isn't as silly as Dr who, and characters are more likable.

Torchwood is certainly better than most of the TV on this side of the pond. I think John is much better on stage however (He and Rob Lowe did a production of "A Few Good Men" in the West End a couple years ago that was excellent).

John was never shy, and has a rep as a bit of a player, though I don't know how well deserved that is.

BTW - in the series apparently his character is not supposed/envisioned to be 'gay', but 'omni-sexual' (
    men, women, aliens, whatever...icon_lol.gif )

I DVR the shows and play them in the background while I am working - who has time to really watch all that TV these days anyway?

John, and his partner Scott Gill, are indeed nice guys; and are very visible in, and supportive of, the UK gay community.

We are actually social friends (friends of friends kind of thing), and have met out to dinner or parties several times over the years.

Um, ACTUALLY, Jack is a human from the 51st century. Which is good, because I am going to marry him someday.

The reason he can't die is because in season 1 of Doctor Who Rose merged with the Targis' time vortex and brought him back to life.

GAWD, get your TV history under wraps.

Hehe, I LOVE Torchwood. Except I f*cking HATE Gwen. SOOOOOO many times I'd have lopped off her head myself.

    haha

At first I was like "This is so gratuitous!" but then I realized it's just caus it's gay fiction, and I'm not used to seeing guys kiss on tv. *Wide grin* hehe

James Marsters, who played Spike on Buffy and now plays Brainiac on Smallville is back on the show soon. I thought it was hot when he and Jack kissed the first time he was on. Great show! And they say "SHIT"! Can't get any better than that! icon_lol.gif

I'm getting a little tired of Owen. Yes, I know every show has to have an asshole, but he's boring me. I think Martha would be great permanent replacement. I think they need to restrain themselves with the crossovers between series though. I mean, I loved Sarah Jane and K-9 since the Tom Baker days, but I have no desire to see them show up in Cardiff. I'm sure the writers and producers won't be able to help themselves though.

Guys, I posted this thread a week and a half ago. You guys are behind the times. Last Saturday night, Ianto and Jack got caught doing the nasty (in the buff). God, they looked good groping each other!

Hmmmph Just because I didn't post a vid, you guys ignored me.
