i have a couple of friends that have done them and said that afterwards was the best theyve felt in their whole lives. I was thinking of doing a good cleanse.....

But Ive also heard from other people that they are terrible for you, my Uncle did one and said it threw off his metabolism or something?

    Thoughts? Experiences?

Actually, LMAO I was thinking about buying Julian Michael's Cleanse kit.. But I don't want to screw something up inside... so i'm kinda worried about trying them. I don't know which ones are good? So if you find one or any info on one let me know.

I wish they had a Bob cleanse Kit, instead of Julian... Bob can be my trainer anyday. bahahahah.icon_wink.gif

You can get a Colon Cleanser from Trader Joes. I use it about twice a week and does wonders for me. Most people don't know how much stuff gets clogged in them until they see it. My advice: Use it on the weekends when you have more 'disposable' time. icon_smile.gif

If you really want to go hard core, might I suggest doing what's called the Master Cleanse. Basically the cleanse is recommended for a minimum of 10 days.

The night before your 1st day on the cleanse, you drink a cup of "Smooth Move" tea.

The next morning you wake up and drink 32 oz of sea salt water. You add 2 teaspoons of sea salt to the water.

This concoction along with the smooth move tea from the night before will have you going in and out of the bathroom for next 2 hours. The tea is coined to be the wash cycle while the sea salt water is the rinse.

Then throughout the day you drink 6-12, 10 oz glasses of lemonade. You squeeze a lemon(usually I use a third of the lemon), 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, and 1/10 teaspoon of cayenne into the water.

You're only allowed this drink, some water, and an occasional peppermint tea throughout the day.

    Then you repeat the cycle...icon_twisted.gif

I bought the Dual action kit a while back and basically all it does is put you on a regular cycle that you can time your clock by. (for me at least)

While there is little scientific evidence to support or refute the benefits of colon cleansing, critics say it's generally unnecessary and at times may even be harmful. Although doctors prescribe colon cleansing as preparation for medical procedures such as colonoscopy, most don't recommend it for detoxification. Their reasoning is simple: The digestive system and bowel naturally eliminate waste material and bacteria — your body doesn't need enemas or special diets or pills to do this.

Take the Activia challenge. Did it freak you out when you heard Jamie Lee Curtis tell people to film their Activia challenges?

Like, um, what exactly do you want me to film Jamie?

    Colon Cleanse:

    popcorn

    raisin bran

    apples

    legumes

The body is good at cleaning itself out, if you eat enough fiber.

It's all about diet, a good balanced diet and your body will do it automatically.

There is so much bacteria down there that your body needs that I'd be nervous of flushing that out.

Like a tropical fish tank, I'd feel it would take me 2 weeks to get it all back each time I did a "water change"

I've had a colonic from time to time. You feel pretty good afterward and makes your abd looks really tight. The only problem I've had was a chatty technician who kept coming in every few minutes to "check" on me and wouldn't leave.

    Yep.

Don't do it. At best, it's unnecessary.

    At worst, it's dangerous.

as with all things, it depends on the individual, and some common sense. most americans don't have a good healthy diet, and would benefit from a colon cleansing. where the common sense comes in, is its not something you need to overdue, either in frequency or severity. i use a product called "colon clenz" from the health food store, billed as a natural, gentle produt. for me, it is. i use it once or twice a month. it doesn't incapacitate me, lol. one good BM is the result, and as already mentioned in this thread, you do feel different, as in better, your stomach will be flatter and tighter. and again, as most of us do consume some processed food at some point, a "cleanse" has a health benefit. obviously, if a person has a health issue that is related to their gastro intestinal tract, they should consult a physician before going ahead....

lol, not a fun topic, but, a genuine health related topic. now for laughs, what was the movie with anthony hopkins as dr. kellogg?....

I cleanse about every 6 months. I always drop a couple to a lot of pounds depending on how long it has been since I did the last one. My BM's are always bigger afterward and I seem to have more energy.

Scam, unneccessary .... yes but our diet is a scam and unneccesary also.

Drink hot water with lemon juice in it before every meal and eat tons of fiber. That is better than any over the counter cleanse you can buy.

Even with the "good diet" you still have so much build up of god knows what on the lining of your intestines. So that's why I take acidophilus every day during a cleanse. Puts the good bacteria back in your digestive track.
