Will I have to dissolve my civil partnership in order to get married?

"[...] A government leader from the United Kingdom predicts full marriage equality in the U.K. will be legalized by the next general election.[...]"

Predictions are just that. Don't hold your breath.
Until a year or so ago both New York and New Jersey seemed to come so close to legalizing marriage. It didn't happen in either state and now it looks so far away.

Doesn't New York recognize same-sex marriage though? (They're legal- they just don't preform them)

dont get your hope up, the Liberal Democrats are the junior party in the Coalition government, the majority party is the Conservative Party...the name says it all, its leader the current Prime Minister is opposed to gay marriage, personally voted against the repeal of section 28 and against the Civil Partnerships Act. Pink News ranks the tories as homophobic...

Yes, New York State recognizes same sex marriages performed elsewhere. That is one step in the desired direction at least.

true, but remember we are not the USA and don´t have fuckwitted right wingers trying to make it Jesus´s Country. The conservatives were actually going to run an ad which had a gay shower scene in it.... Yes, there are antis, but the situation is not comparable with the US
