I have heard this topic thrown around a lot lately, and I would like some help on determining the facts. I have heard that drinking soy milk and using other soy products lowers testosterone levels. Is this true? I googled it and this was one article that came up, "Soy is making kids gay".

Unfortunately I am lactose intolerant, and I do use soy milk, it might be making me more gay...lol. Can someone help shed some light?

I was reading a atical about testosterone levels and if they were a contributing facter to homosexuality. They did a test on about 50 men 25 gay and 25 straight. They gave them estrogen to lower the testosterone levels in these men. what they found is that all it did was lower thier sex drive and give them boobs. LOL.. Gay men and straight men alike both lost the desire to have sex with anyone wheather it was a man or a woman. Levels of testosterone have nothing to do with who we are attracted to. I wish I remember where I read this so I could give you a link. I hope that this helps.

Kids should start testosterone therapy at age 8 or even sooner.
They will overlook the pain of the injections when they see how smooth their skin becomes and how low their body fat becomes. They may even notice they are in a better mood most of the time. It should for sure keep them from becoming a mo.
A lot of people say it is dangerous but google it for the truth.

I wish scientists would spend time worrying about other things besides what "makes" men gay. The soy milk angle is one of the funnier ones I have come across. I guess the fact that a large proportion of the world's male population in Asia that is lactose intolerant was conveniently ignored in the study. From what I have seen in the gay community in Toronto, China, the Philippines and other Asian countries have just as high a percentage of gay men as anywhere else.

Furthermore, I have heard of studies that seem to indicate gay men have higher levels of testerone than straight men, not lower.

Amazing advice. They should do this while dieting, throwing up after meals, taking lots of psychotropic drugs and watching episodes of I love new york and charm school icon_lol.gif

Even though I'm a vegetarian, I only started eating a lot of soy about ten years ago -- the same time I became addicted to reality TV. Coincidence?

So far, no one's been able to show that hormones play ANY role in determining sexual orientation... I might wanna point out there's huge numbers of gay men who take testosterone, and all it's doing is making them hornier! Straight guys who do juice get all the same benefits, lol.

While we're on the subject, doctors are now recommending that men over 40 take testosterone: it improves quality of life, reduces risk of prostate cancer, and, hell, it may even add a couple extra years on for ya. Besides, who wouldn't want to have a leaner, more muscled look to them?

    NNJfitandbi saidMNJock,

You're on to something. Aging is a disease. It is amazing how far science has come. Now, with the right cocktail, we are capable of superhuman feats of masculinity. And there's no reason kids need to wait until 8.

Kids are just lazy and ignorant about the truth. I started regular injections at age 5 and I basically had to beat other kids off with a baseball bat. I mean, they were so into me because of my strong values and dedication. Hell, most of them wanted to be me , but they were victims of misinformation and weren't willing to make there own injectable testosterone cocktails.. Now who's laughing, ROFL.

We all know that andropause starts within 30 seconds after birth. Androgel and testosterone patches should be made available to all babies especially those poor lactose intolerant ones that have to drink that sissyfying soy solution. It is appalling that newborns in this country do not have critical hormone therapy available to them. I sure hope Hillary will be able to fix this egregious error in our health care system.

That story about soy making kids gay originated with a fundie Jebus nutter over on Whirled Nut Daily. It's good for a few laughs, but don't take it seriously.

For 25+ years, I've lived in Fairfield Iowa, which is ground zero for all things Transcendental Meditation in the US. Maharishi International University bought the defunct Parsons College campus back in about 1974, and among the first meditator-owned businesses to spring up here was American Pride Tofu. TM folks eat a lot of tofu, probably much more than the average Japanese person does, since TMers tend to be vegetarians. Lots of kids have been raised here on diets loaded with soy, and to the best of my knowledge, there is not a higher percentage of gay kids in the meditating population.

No, that's just silly. You can't made more gay. Gay is a state mind, being and wanting of other men. Drinking soy milk is either a health issue, personal political bias, or a by product of doing things you think you should because you are gay in the first place.
Soy, if anything, only makes you more effiminate and takes you one micro step closer to having the hormones of a teen aged girl. If you vary better milk, or lactaid milk you should be fine over all. But don't fear. It's not like you're drinking potent estrogen. You won't sprout breast or have longer mood swings, but your voice will carry towards upper register's and saprono with ease.

People in this side of the world eat soy as poor man protein . We eat it as package drinks sold by some street vendor and lately as soft drink at supermarket . They are as common as coke in the West. Aside from that we eat them as food at lunch/dinner like Indonesian/Malaysian style tempeh and Oriental style tofu , sometimes deep fried, sometimes mixed with vegetable in so many Asians recipes. Now it this making me gay and slightly twisted in the head, well, I have six sibling and me alone turn out this way.

From what I have read, those are the good types of soy. The bad are with soy protein isolate, such as soy milk, soy ice cream, and soy cheese. I also consume soy protein rather than whey.

I started the topic with maybe too much humor, I am really interested in the affects of consuming these products, not only on my testosterone levels, but also on my workouts, moods, etc.

In the Jan/Feb 2008 Issue of Details there is a section in the "know + tell" spot that men whom eat 1/2 a serving of soy-based products produce less sperm then men who dont. 65 Millon is the Average for guys who eat soy verses 100 Million for guys who don't eat any notable amounts of soy. Intresting.... considering I think I could use more of the hormone maybe I should stop eatting soy but its soo good. =

WOW. food that makes you gay. What willthey think of next?

Kids don't need testosterone shots at a young age. Unless its for a medical reasons then they should just live life and let time do its job. They just need to get their lazy asses up and work out and play instead watching tv and playing video all day. The parents need to actively monitor what kinds of food their kids are eating and provide a healthy balance instead of running to MacDonald's or a BK.

    we were joking...
I didn't think I would have to clarify because it is such an absurd concept.
We were just poking fun of a common suggestion on here.
So relax everyone, we aren't going to inject kids with steroids or give them hormone patches.

Actually mnjock2003, what you said might've been in a funny tone but unfortuante for you your sense of humor is actually a widely done process to kids who have no say in the matter because the parents "claim" to see certain tendencies in their children they don't like and do have them injected with hormones.

Maybe you just aren't a funny person so clarification probably is needed when discussing something that actually does happen. Not trying to start a cat fight but I don't think I came off as serious in my comment. If anything I sounded concerned and a little shocked at how lazy parents are when they allow their kids to walk around like beach balls at such young and active ages. Just a thought is all.
