I am not into the West Hollywood gay scene, and don't have many gay friends. It's hard finding other gay guys who are like me. I was wondering if anyone knows about a chill, non-pressure place where guys like me can go and hang out?

SIlverlake is just as bad as West Hollywood only in a different way. Bars there are full of men so insecure in their masculinity that they over do it.

If you do figure it out, let me know as well. This issue is one of many why I am looking to get out of LA as soon as I can.

If you want chill and no pressure, hit up a straight bar.

If you want chill and gay dudes, try Roosterfish in Venice. Its slightly less awful than average.

Try Downtown around Broadway. There are also lot of great places where I used to live around Alvarado and Sunset in Echo Park

Coffee houses are the best I guess. Bring your laptop and chill and see what happens. I don't do clubs anymore, so beyond that its hard to say

What about one of the many gay sports groups?

There is a list of some of there on here: http://azusapride.com/

I have also been told that a lot of gay couples like to join their local Community Supported Agriculture Groups to get fresh fruits and veggies and be a part of their local community:

You and I the same dude, but I've been back for the last few months and I feel like I've been missing out for not going. Got a little tired of the straight scene. I don't have gay friends here either, I'm finally dragging my brother-in-law and his straight friend to take me this weekend, prob to Gym or somethin'. For once, I'd like to have a group of friends that can really go out every other weekend and really drink my ass off. Hopefully I can find some when I'm done with college next year, any takers lol? Pref someone close to my age, and isn't looking to screw around, and just to have some drunk fun lol.

I know it's a long way away but you could try Long Beach or maybe Manhattan Beach, but otherwise most of the places have their good and bad apples.

or the starbucks on ventura and vineland where Ralph's is located.

Rooster Fish is awesome in Venice. There are some really small hidden bars in Silver lake that are really cool with an older crowd. Personally I love downtown LA. There's a REALLY fun mexican bar on Main Street and between 2nd and 3rd called Jalisco Inn. Trust me it is NOTHING like weho!

No offense to anyone, I should have worded my question better. I know there is a huge spectrum of gay men.

I had a friend (girl) who wanted to date me and I ended up telling her that I was gay and she responded with "if you don't want to go out with me just say so". I don't consider myself flamboyant nor a complete macho. In a scale from 1 - 10, 1 being your stereotypical flamboyant gay guy and 10 being completely macho I would say i am about a 8.

I have two gay friends who I can talk to, and for some reason they always want to dress me up in drag, put on makeup "teach me to catwalk," walkways calling me "gurl."

I am just looking for a group of guys to hang out with and be open with. I've got a bunch of straight friends who I am out to, but I can't really talk to about being gay, they just don't understand me.

You might want to join the Gay and Lesbian Meet Up groups, and there are plenty of them in LA. They have fun activities such as hiking, bond fires at the beach, camping, international dinners, etc. Great and fun place to meet up other people.
