Is it just me or is there something about a man that saves lives for a living hot? I've got kidney issues so I deal with a lot of transplant evaluations and dialysis stuff and what not...but man..sometimes I swear its worth it for the amount of hot medical professionals I get the chance to um...be cared for by.

I've contemplated pretending to pass out just to get some mouth to mouth action...::ahem:: ok...not really...but that would be cool.

Also, I think male nurses may be some of the sweetest men I've ever met in my life icon_redface.gif

Most of them are asses, especially the latter two. Conceited, arrogant, and all kinds of fools. A couple of medical personnel on here are just like that, and they're attention whores to boot.
Granted, the former two are useful.

Sorry you feel that way "commoncoll." I'm a nurse, have been for almost 11 yrs. Just like the rest of the world, there are all kinds in the medical profession. Good and bad. No two people are every alike. I have seen my fair share of good and bad nurses and good and bad doctors as well. It is definitely scary to put your life in someone's hands and to gain their trust. I try my hardest not to be an ass to my patients. "DoomsDay," thanks for the compliment! icon_biggrin.gif

another nurse here... and yeah, we all have bad days, but you gotta be a real "people person" to be in the job... so 99% of us are just damn AWSOME!!

Yeah many of the doctors and multi-disciplinary staff are hot - not just because they look great - but they are all fantastic people.

Big kudos to everyone working in health! icon_biggrin.gif

I volunteer for palliative care, and have the deepest respect for those that have chosen caring for others as their profession.

I'm an EMT, does that count for anything? Then again, I'm also a Chemical Engineer and a Spin Instructor, so I'm kinda stretched in areas.

I actually enjoy being an EMT. I'm more fascinated by the Trauma aspect and I LOVE the adrenaline rush (not that that's good at the expense of the casualty) associated with my job. It's knowing that your actions are directly related to someone else's well-being that make it so worthwhile.

hehehe...I once had to cut up clothing on this guy and I don't know if it was a case of priapism or otherwise, but he was full-on when the shorts/skivvs came off. He was really embarrassed and kept apologizing to me the entire time. It was kinda cute (and so was he icon_eek.gif; and, no. I didn't ask for his number).

My Mother is a Nurse in a hospital's Trauma Ward, My sister is a Nurse in a retirement home, My brother is an EMT, Best friend is a Paramedic and my ex-boyfriend (still friends) is a radiologist. So between all of them, I can not even cough with out someone trying to diagnose me or stick me or make me take some kind of pill/potion.

I admire ANYONE in the medical service field, they are some patient people and i give my blessing to them all! I have no patience, so that field will not be a career choice for me; ill stick with architecture!

I'm a Pharmacy....student... does that count? haha ...but we save lives, trust me, doctors mess up prescribing you stuff more than you know. ESPECIALLY in the ER... can't tell you how many times on my rotations doctors wanted me to give a patient a particular med that would've killed him...and the doctor didn't know that...fucking ridiculous really... leave prescribing up to the people that study medication and it effects for a living. ....oh and we also make all your IV bags that you go through. icon_biggrin.gif

MY mom is an MD....my best friend is a paramedic, have several good friends that are various specialists(MD's) and many more that are nurses.....
I think early on in their careers the "god syndrome" ...(ever hear of "Paragods" for Paramedics?)can be an issue that makes them all come across as a bit cocky, but that is a passing phase...saving a life is sort of heady stuff and if you do it enough....
I have noticed that ALL of my friends in med fields share a common trait...they CARE....REALLY CARE for people. If they treat a person in some sort of agony and pain, it is everything they can do to maintain their professional calm and composed look, in front of the patients..they feel and empathize with those in pain and want to help the best way possible.
I think it is ALWAYS sexy to be in a profession that helps relieve suffering...thank you for being there when we need you!...Wish more of you sexy men in medicine were naked though! LOL!icon_cool.gif

I'm a Basic EMT, currently working towards being a Paramedic. I really like the work, and I just started my clinicals, so i aint seen much yet.

I try to not be a jerk to people. I've had family who are assholes, so I know how to deal with them type of people. But I work towards not being that type of person.

I'm going to have to agree with everyone else, there are good and bad people in any profession, I will say I have had far more GOOD experinces (and I have had quite a few) than bad ones.

Also, my mother was an RN so I am possibly biased. I personally REALLY wanted to become a nurse because I love helping people but I cant be around sick/dying/people in agony attempting to spew water from my eyes....or passing out.

Much respect for all the medical professionals icon_biggrin.gif

i loved every nurse i came across, they do a lot of dirty work...
and even the "mean" ones were at the least, self-deprecating

they also make nice bank.. maybe that's why the doctors are agitated?

Probably because the market is being flooded with PA's and Nurse Practitioners?

possibly, but i think for many the "image" of nurse is still low wage, which is definitely not the case..

some people who find out nursing pays quite well jump on the bandwagon, but you do have to know your stuff...

with baby boomers aging, i think the demand in the field is crazy good.. that and physical therapists (who also make great salary)

Im pursuing an MD education and career as well.

speaking of experience, i once passed out and was in ER for a while and they couldn't figure out what i had then and i had the hottest doctor/specialist in charge of me, he was really hot, masculine, very fit and so genuinely concerned about me. it was a moment i wont forget and he made me take my clothes off for tests and i was afraid of getting a hardon haha.
