    Gay & lesbian couples are getting married and would naturally contribute to the upswing in Iowa, but I can't see a relationship regarding divorce. The yearly divorce numbers would instead seem to track with the failing economy, and predate the Iowa court ruling.

    It seems more likely, as noted in the article, that divorce can be an expensive, not to mention financially risky path to take in the middle of a major recession, at least for the average couple. Not the time to take chances and upset the status quo.

    I think there were similar findings in Massachusetts following the passage of Marriage Equality there. Statistics seem to prove we're not a threat to marriage after all.
