    Really?

This is what happens when an idiot pack of Christian retards picket an event where 150,000 people attend, either as creators, workers, or are simply dressed up as an action hero...really nothing to do with being gay. Totally pointless. They might as well picket the West Hollywood Halloween festival while they're at it. This is definitely the top 10 ways to not get your message across.

    Perhaps.
Picketing could bring them more publicity and followers - which is what they desperately want.
Ignoring them might make them just fizzle out, frustrate them and kill their spirit.

Phelps' band picketed Gay Pride in Fargo, North Dakota, one year, just a handful of them. Back then we'd only have a 1-day community picnic, no parade and rally as we did later. And to be truthful, there weren't that many of us, either.

The local police made them stay behind a line, where we could barely hear them under our large picnic pavilion. I was told they tried to use a bull-horn before I arrived, but the police quickly prevented it, presumably a violation in the public park, or requiring a permit, I dunno, We didn't bother counter-protesting, since very few people saw them on the dead-end road in the wooded park, except for us. Talk about preaching to the wrong choir!

We were disappointed to learn, however, that they had been hosted by a local Baptist church, at which they spoke. Phelps might leave at the end of the day, but people who supported him would still be living in our community.

The entire congregation at Westboro Baptist Church consists of just 71 members, 60 of whom are related to Fred Phelps by blood or by marriage or both, so they will never be a large group. There are millions of people who support gay rights in the United States so if gay rights supporters could organize just a few hundred people to protest against the WBC imagine the message that could be sent to Fred Phelps and the world. I would definitely protest against Phelps and the WBC if they ever came to my city (Philadelphia - the City of Brotherly Love).

Do I HAVE to remind you that Michael & Justin in the US version of the Queer as Folk TV series collaborated to create a comic book? Therefore, comic books are havens for gays. You are JUST so naive... icon_rolleyes.gif

That was a fair question that muscles asked---I had no clue why they were picketing---and that comics were a haven for gays?

Your response wilton, was to be expected but I will JUST not let you you get away w/ it. You are a cyber BULLY here at RJ---

    I'm not convinced.
Just as there are millions of people who support gay rights in the United States there are millions who are vocally anti-gay and are vehemently opposed to any advancement in gay rights. Various things rejuvenate their anti-gay sentiment. They jump on the bandwagon in support when they see the Westboro protests on the news.
Putting out a fire requires suffocating it, not fueling it with encouragement. Another parallel step is actively demonstrating to heteros that gay people need equal civil rights like everyone else. - Doing this as independent campaigning, and not just as a reaction to gay bashing.

I don't suppose the word SARCASM is in your unsophisticated vocabulary? And that I was answering the question that muscles4muscles asked with that rhetorical device?

Do consult your dictionary, if you have one, or know how to use it. The question muscle4muscle asked was great, and my reply was intended to be ironic, not a slam on him. If I failed to make that clear, that's my fault.

But do get a life, OK? I think you'll find one at the third door to the left.

I've held back saying this for a long time due to the backlash I know I'll receive, but that group of idiots (WBC) needs to be killed...all of them.
There is no hope for them.
