Two days of shirtless guys everywhere, good music, drinking on the streets, hot Chicago weather, and no parade to get in the way = what's not to like?

It the main event of the summer in Boyztown. Halsted street closed to traffic and it's blocks and blocks of vendors, sound stages, and eye candy. In fact... it's the biggest street fair in the midwest.

    I will see you there.

i just got home from it a couple hours ago -- saw joan jett rock the 7-Eleven parking lot! it was a morass of sticky. sweaty, stinky people ... and it was kinda fun. during the day it's like a giant gay bar that has spilled into the streets - hot guys walking around shirtless, lots of straight folk too, various foods on a stick, every bar has a booth selling cold drinks, other booths like HRC, welcoming churches, cremation society, 3 pair of sunglasses for $20, Equality Illinois (which i volunteered a few hours for), gyms, cell phone companies, gay republicans, canadian travel, etc....

for those of us who go every year, it's something we bitch about - how crowded and hot it is and ill-mannered some of the people are, how rude the security can be, how expensive the food has gotten ($9 for a sausage sandwich?) -- but it's still the place to be at least for half a day every summer.

This was my first trip to Chicago. While I did not spend as much time as I would have liked at Market Days I had a blast while I was there. I was able to see two shows by September and 16 Candles (granted I am not a Chicago native, but recalled them being local). I got to hang out with my good friend who I met last year on RJ and was introduced to some friendly and genuine guys.

There was tons of eye candy and plenty of people watching. While it was super crowded I enjoyed hitting up Sidetrack for drinks to escape the heat and was greeted by super friendly bartenders. I also enjoyed Tequila Company next to Roscoe's and The North End was a great dive to go hang out, play darts and get drunk off of good beer.

Ultimately, it was good times and I plan on attending again in the future.
