So here we are at another Valentines Day. If you are involved with someone, either dating or in a long term relationship, you may or may not be approaching this day seriously... but I have a serious question for you to ponder (courtesy of my bf, Will)

What is the state of your relationship? Are you and your significant other together because you have common interests, capabilities, understanding... the building blocks of a successful long term relationship... or are you together because "he's hot" or ...... just because it is "comfortable" and you don't want to rock the boat or you don't want to be alone?

If you have a successful LTR,... why? And why is it healthy.. if not.. whats the issue and is it "fixable"?

Couldn't tell you. I've blown it twice and I think I'm done.

*Hugs* Happy happily-single Valentine's Day, JP buddy!

Edit: Oops. Just realized I helped continue the derailment of a thread, so here's my two cents...

I won't lie. My current situation (yeah, yeah, yeah...I'm wary of that dreaded word 'relationship' because I don't wanna jinx things...) had its start as one night of drunken-stupor mind-blowing sex. It wouldn't have turned into anything more than the occasional awkward moment in a bar had we not clicked on a ton of other levels.

So there you go...I'm picky. I need the great sex AND the great mind and compatibility.

I heard an elderly couple, that were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary answer this question. How have you managed to stay together for so many years? She said, because we have never fallen out of love with each other at the same time.

Relationships ebb and flow all the time. They evolve over time. You are building a history with your partner. You build a history with his family and he with yours. If you don't have children to connect you together for life then you have to make other connections that will keep your relationship strong. Just remember to Live, Love and Laugh and throw in a lot of hot sex and cuddling and you have the perfect recipe for a long and happy relationship. icon_wink.gif

He'd probably have fewer toes if he booted all the people in the butt who asked dumb questions... LOL
