I'll be San Diego at the end of August (24th Aug to Sept 2nd) for bit of a break, hopefully with some Summer season left.

Can anyone tell me if there is anything interesting on - festivals, events, etc that are worth checking out or should I just expect to chill on the beach all day?

My plans have slowly been coming together but so far only consist of morning jogs, beaches, bars and the zoo - oh and also checking out the tattoo parlours ;)

I see you were at the Golds in Point Loma. Go down I-8 west all the way towards Ocean Beach. There are tons of good little restaurants and bars on Newport Ave, and the pier is cool. Take Sunset Cliff's drive to Santa Monica and Newport Aves, they are the main drags. All the way at the end of Newport Ave. is a bar called "South Beach". They are right by the water, have a great beer selection and the best fish tacos in Town.

If you get a chance, keep going down Sunset Cliff's drive and you'll find out how it got it's name. The view is spectacular and you can find a great place to park, check out the cliffs and watch the sunset. If it's clear enough you may see the "green flash"

If you are there on Sunday, go to "The Hole".. it's sort of a leather/jeans dive and they have a beer bust that starts picking up about 4 pm. During the summer it's nuts and a good fun crowd. If it's warm, make sure you find a place in the shade. It's right across the street from the entrance to the Marine Corps Recruiting Depot and you do get some military guys in there.

Urban Mos' is aways fun, it's at University Ave. and 4th. If you like dance clubs, check out Rich's, University and about 10th. Right across the street from the Ralph's shopping center.

I've been out of town for a while, so I don't know what current festivals or events they have going on.

Enjoy, It's a twin to Melbourne.

    Thanks for the sdgman,
I'll actually be staying in Ocean beach as a friend will be in France and has lent me his place for the time I'm there.

So looking forward to staying more than 2 days in SD! icon_smile.gif
